Nephew has an opportunity to pick up a bone stock cherry 7.3 Excursion Limited, black with tan leather and just hit 100k miles.
What's it worth?
Getting it from a buddies parents so they are giving him what I think is a ripping deal.

That's almost gold if it was a 4x4 it would be. I'm on my second 7.3 Excursion I regretted selling my first one, I'll be buried in the one I have now.

At 100k miles for a 21 year old 7.3 is rare but not unheard-of. Depending on condition and carfax $22k sounds middle of the road. $28k for 4x4 middle of the road with 100k miles.

I thought it might be worth some money.
Got a little more info. It's actually an 03, one owner, not used for a tow rig, never been wrecked and no hail damage (which is rare for Colorado).

IMO 2WD $25-27k for the 03 if it truly is the 7.3 with an unused tow receiver.

If its an 03 verify that it is a 7.3. That was the crossover year where it could be a 7.3 or a 6.0. They are great trucks!
Pretty sure it's the 7.3. Nephew has a v10 Excursion and has been on the hunt for a 7.3. I will double check before I go look at it with him.. He can be a dumb ass

I’ve seen 7.3s 4x4s with over 200k miles be posted for more than 30k and sell. I would imagine a 2wd with a 100k to be around the 25k mark unless 2wds are really not wanted.

With it being 2wd in snow areas that may effect market up there. Their great, I'd love one, but down here a 2wd 7.3 is 20k, and well over 200k on the odometer. 4wd ones, even high milers, are put up for 25-35...and gone quick!

Only thing I've ever seen as a problem...more just a pain...replacing the pass side injectors. The ac box and lines for the dual ac get in the way. They'll make you cuss, but can be done. Still better than the later motors!

Where we are in Colorado, 2wd is not very desirable. Owners moved here from California and want a 4x4.

I've had my 02 7.3 since 03. Unfortunately I know my way around them all to well.
Mines got 147k. Lucky for me I haven't had to do injectors yet. And I don't have dual ac to deal with.

My wife's old daily was an 04...with a 5.4. Smallest motor offered. We bought it in 06 i think. Can't get but maybe 3k for it, so it's our spare bus. Also hauls the little car hauler. I've dreamt about a Cummins swap some day. I love the thing, but wish it had some guts a 7.3 would be perfect, but they command a decent price

You'll want to check the rear end code. That 2WD model most likely comes with an open diff. Kind of a crappy deal Ford did on such a large powerful SUV. Hell, a lot of the 4x4 excursions and F series came with front and rear open diffs.

Certain models were ordered with limited slip. The on demand locker didn't show up until 2012 IIRC.

While we're on the subject, whaddya think my Ex is worth? It's a 2001, 75,000 miles, V10 4WD, stock except for 20" wheels and a stereo system that'll peel paint if I turn it up.

KBB says $14,500.
