Mom finally gave us the ok to take granddaughter to Havasu for the weekend. Her name is Lailah and she’s 6 and lives with us as well as baby momma and 2 younger siblings. Every time we leave for Havasu she’s asked to go, but mom always says not this time. The dad told baby momma all we do is get drunk and party and it wouldn’t be safe for her. Which is weird because he grew up going to Havasu and that never happened 🤷🏻‍♂️. Well if we’re going I keep asking baby momma if it’s ok if she go’s and this time she said yes! I don’t know who was more excited, me or Lailah.
Day 1 Friday: Took her out of school a little early but who cares it’s kindergarten 🤣
Made the 1 hour drive for the customary DelTaco stop.
Arrived in Havasu around 3 and she’s asking to go on the boat. I’m prepping the boat and her and G-Ma run to Walmart for supplies. Then the Storm blows in. Instant disappoint. We make the best of it watching movies.
Day 2 Saturday: Wakes us up and is ready to hit the lake. We decided 3 dunes would be a good first time spot for her because of the beach. After launching and not sure how she’s going to react to the boat ride I took it a little slow in the beginning, however half way down to the dunes she was like faster PaPa. I was happy to oblige. She had the greatest time at 3 dunes playing in the water and making new friends. Heading back to the Islander and the wife wanted to get a photo at London bridge so through the channel we went. She got the full experience 🤣 Seen @Hammer with his family so stopped to BS a little before heading back to the islander for pool time.
I believe we created another generation of river rat. She’s already asking to go back.
I don’t know who had a better time us or her.
Sorry for the long story.

I’m glad Reese and Laila hit it off! Too bad we didn’t have another day for them to hang out. Next time. 👍

I try to get my niece and nephew out but their mom says it’s too hot and not safe. Plus she doesn’t want them seeing thongs and pasties.

I told her we don’t go to those areas but there is always a chance

And as far as the heat ( mom main concern) I told her plenty of fluids, even more sunscreen and let them rip. (Still a no, she suggested April is a good time. I said the water is super cold and not swimable even for kids really)

None this trip. I had some in the freezer already 🤣

I have to figure out a better way to track my daughters purchases - Reviewing the monthly is detective :)
She hops on her bike and rides around the Islander with stops for treats.
Told the wife, on her Gabb watch (she wears it so we know where she is at and can call us), we need to program an alert, so we know when she is at the office :)

...and the irony is that the kids are pretty oblivious to the thongs and pasties and other activities until my wife or some other adult points them out and comments on how it's not appropriate for the kids, then all of a sudden everyone notices... 🤷‍♂️

I'll never forget the first time my granddaughter hollered "Faster Poppa, faster". I hope you won't either. Good times and memories for sure.

Good job Grandma and Grandpa. Our oldest grandsons began spending a month at time with us when we had our RVs at BML. They were 6 & 8 yrs old. Great times for all of us. They're now 21 & 19, still talk about it and remember people and happenings we've forgotten.

I love taking kids on the boat for the first time. Don’t big deal the small stuff and ruin a memory just let it happen and let them enjoy every minute of it. Once they love you you start teaching them about taking care of things. I always enjoy letting kids have a blast on the boat.

Started taken our granddaughter at 8 months… grandson is 2.5 years younger, he started going about 2 due to childcare that parents paid for and didn’t want it unused 🤷🏼‍♂️ .

First year I thought of taking a picture every year…

and one from last year.

They are sooo much fun, we take them for a week …. Spring break, June, July, and August. Occasional other weekend trips. THEY LOVE IT.

With the Lili pad… we play “king of the Lili pad” they try and knock me off the pad. I’m still the king 😛

I strongly suggest pick a spot off the water for a picture THERE AT THAT SPOT… every trip. (In case you don’t go on the water)

Grandkids are the best, I wish I had them first. 😂

I'm waiting to hear about the part where you got drunk. 😜

The total Havasu experience for kids is boating and more.

I wish my daughter had her grandparents alive. This is so awesome. It boggles my mind that some of you guys have to convince your children to let ya take them on trips.

I would be MORE than happy to get a small break from life and the little one gets to experience even more fun. Its a win win!!
