I have a 1987 bowrider version of this boat with the 454. Love it. It cruises at 25 mph at 2100 RPM and I get 3mpg all day long. Tops out about 72mph w/ 23" mirage on it.

It could have stood more deadrise, but overall a solid boat that is the most fun of any that I've owned.

That was the best outdrive at the time, IMO, still is. That is the 260 engine not the 290. Those drives are bullet proof if set up right and I just happen to know a guy that knows them like the back of his hand.:D:D

Looks like a decent deal just can’t do the older Volvo’s they run for ever but ugly and a blunt nose gear case doesn’t help performance

I wonder what it would take to place a Bravo on the back or a outboard.

Why change the power plant on a 1985 boat? The thing was and still might be the best outdrive ever built. It's a daycruiser, who gives a crap about performance!! If I didn't have my 1986 22' Silver Wing, that boat would be in my garage as we speak.

Yes that is a great point. Simple older machine that will get you around the lake or river. Great first boat for someone wanting to get out on the lake.
I am sure it is good on gas!

The only problem with those volvo AQ outdrives is that they never die... If they do, they are so many upper/mid/lowers available used that its pretty cheap and easy to just swap out whole assemblies. Great boat and drive set up for someone with a little mechanical curiosity and abilities.
