Back story is... We (Paul Miller and myself) DCB built this classic 19' Daytona back in 1996 for a customer named Rod. He saw the light black and red 19' Daytona we built as a drag boat. It was when the 15" 2.5 260 HP Merc Racing outboard debuted. When Rod saw the black one he wanted a replica but make the black base white. He did want more of a family style with a full interior, jack plate, ski-pylon, and even a Bimini top. We of course were happy to oblige. The cool part is we did have Bob Leach insert the mold to elevate the center pod to make it more conducive for the outboard set-up. The boat came out bitchen and it has had a few owners and spent some time in Northern California on the Delta.

Fast forward to now... I reached out to Rick at Maxed out Marine @MaxedOutMarine and wanted to find a Mach 22 with twins. The one I wanted is owned by the same gentleman that owned this one. He unfortunately will not part with my dream Mach 22 with twin drag 2.5's but maybe someday... Rick contacted me a few months later and said he had a little something up his sleeve. When he sent me the pic of the 19 I told him I had to have it... This boat is all original and so well taken care of. This is why I pulled the trigger. As I get older, we start to think more about where we came from and reflect more on where we are now. I have been doing what I do for 32 years and am truly blessed to be where I am today. I truly mean this. Life is good and I cherish these memories more now than ever. The best part of is the relationships that are made in this industry.

So, I did buy this without hesitation!! Made the purchase the day after our beloved president Trump was elected and this will forever be one of the coolest days ever.

Now I have a cool boat to tow behind my dually. It all fits

I want to personally thank Rick, Roger, and Tim for making this happen. Let's make boating great again!!

Cheers all,
-Tony DCB

My bud James Rutherford had that 19 for close to decade up here in Norcal..he puchashed it from cat in Oklahoma named Mike "Perch".James got it to go 105mph and swear it was some "miracle "motor as he abused it hard and NEVER had a hiccup!James sold to old drag racer Roger Sayles that has place right on river near needles last i heard maybey around 2013?

Yes you have the history down pat.... Joe at Hot Laps just refreshed the Power Head, so now I can put some beatings on it. LOL

Congrats Tony!! Sweet ride!

Are you planning on matching truck to boat or vice versa? I mean they are each beautiful in their own right, just wondering if you were gonna go era correct and have the dually matching the river runner or vice versa. 😁👍

That's a bitchen boat, Tony. Congrats on the purchase. I wish I still had the 21 you guys built for me in 1996.

What a great story this is and congrats, Tony.👍

It might not even be all that well know to some newer to the custom boat scene that THAT! is the roots of DCB.
Custom, over the top rigging on these little lake and river rockets. Many had eccentric or over the top gelcoat too.

Tony? Do you know who shot the gelcoat? I’d suspect (coincidently named) Rod R?
If you don’t, Shoot me a pic of the hull number and I’ll know by the way he trimmed the number tape.

Everyone loves the V-8 jet boats but there’s something about those old 2 strokes that is just special.
That sound! That smell. Nothing else like it👍👍

Beautiful little river rocket. I grew up on the lower river as well. We used to camp at Hidden Shores, run up river after breakfast to a sandbar we called butt floss beach then float with the current back to Fishers for lunch, ski back to camp. Great times.

Either Jimmy or Rod, yes. Rod did more of the wacky, crazy, abstract ones and I think Jimmy may have done the classic ones like this. Yes we custom rigged most all of the 19, 21, and 22 Daytona's. We did rig the couple of 25 Daytona's as well. We rigged one for Mike Lapaglia back in the day.

This was posted today. And you can see the Daytona in the background. Looks like someone’s property. There is also a blue/white canyon jet in the background. But it’s not for sale. I’m always looking for a lower river cruiser Just needs a back seat.

Different animals, but reminds me of this boat. This was my first reasonably fast boat back in the day. bob Leach built up the transom on this boat custom to accept a Bravo 1 outdrive. Add a snotty Chev 496 and a monster hit of Nitrous and you had 119 mph pretty quick. Loved this boat, although it had a sinister history.

Tony, I remember talking to Dave way back then about a Skater 21, I remember you guys could get them and rig them. Do I recall that right? It was a great convo as Dave being the sales guy that he is mailed me some photos of the 22 being tooled and then my head spun on choices...

Tony, Dave had this exact boat/setup when I had one of the true tunnel 19' daytonas. Is this the same one, or another??? My 19 was a 1991, 2 blues, 2 grays, and black, l/h drive with carbed 2.5 with 18" jackplate

I'm so out of the loop so please forgive me. However, is there any talk at DCB of making a new boat that is 26' or under again or is that not a thing? I know Eliminator is doing 21's and you can still get a KMG (Mach) 22. Just curious if DCB would again.. beautiful boat. Hope you enjoy it!

I always loved this boat and so awesome to see you got it back in the stable. You hit it on the head with getting back to our roots, I went down this road a couple of Year's ago. We are having more fun boating than we have in a long time and it is actually in a DCB LOL 😆. Enjoy the new float

Yes, we did a twin 21 Skater and a few 28's with twins as well. We had fun rigging the STV's too. A lot of cool little river hot rods.

Not at this time. Our smallest boat now is our M-28R. Twin outboard or single inboard.
