It was 1959, 18 year old Raquel Tejada played the leading role of "Ramona" in the outdoor play based on the book written by Helen Hunt Jackson. The play is put on in an outdoor amphitheater in Hemet. I've been a couple times, it's pretty cool, over 300 people in the play with live horses & all. We're framing a couple shadow box pieces for the pagent association, one to be raffled off and the other to be presented to Raquel.
When she took on this role she was a straight A student at La Jolla high school and held the title of "Maid of California" at the 1958 state fair in Sacramento.
