Way worse than on I-10 in Coachella Valley, 1974. Both lanes were above water, in between on each side, a lake.
Total Mudstorm. SR 74 West out of Palm Desert was blocked at the base of the hill by a massive mud and rock slide.

It's been raining off and on since 1 PM here. First time its rained since the first week of July. Our pond has gone down about six feet since July 1. The last week I've been watering trees and the foundations of the shop and house, running it for probably fifteen hours total. Gonna be a big bill.

The cracks in the soil are huge. Last week I was watching the neighbor's cat run across the back of our property, and it disappeared into a crevasse.

Well, not really. But it's bad.
