So..........I finally got a chance to get in the boat today for a little fun after working almost full time on the new house for the last 10 days.

When we took off this morning we were only able to get a whopping 29 MPH out of our Premiere 225 PTX (Tritoon) with Honda 150 O/B.....WTF??:grumble:

The boat has been just sitting (in the water) for the last few weeks and must have gotten a little "Mucky" on the bottom::thumbsdown

Well........We find a cove and put her on the beach, I grab a ScotchBrite Pad and crawl under the boat scrub all three tubes. It probably took me all of 15 minutes and I got to cool off at the same time.

We were able to coax 34 MPH out of her on the way home.....that's a ~15% increase in speed and efficiency.....pretty good return for 15 minutes.:thumbsup

This is going to be the new first thing I do when we put the Toon on the beach from now on!!!

The Tubes were treated with Sharkhide when it went into the water a year ago.....sounds like I'll have to pull it out this winter and have them redone again.

We will be leaving the boat in the water full-time to use as transportation between the house in the city and our place on the water at the Palms on the CA side.......anyone have any suggestions on how best to keep the tubes clean going forward????:headscratch:

You sure speed increase was not due to current direction?

The Shark Hide will stop oxidation of the toons, but will not prevent growth.

Your boat hasnt been in the Marina long enough for the growth to be that bad. My bet is that there was a little growth or debris over the speedo pitot opening effecting an accurate reading.

Actually Rick, the boat's been in the water at the Palms since July of last year. I've had it out once for service in July of this year and pressure washed the bottom but been back in since then even though we moved it to the slip in the Havasu marina last Monday, so about 60 days of "Stuff" on the bottom....and trust me there was lots of green stuff, no muscles but green growth!

I'm pretty sure a quick scrub is just going to be something I have to live with......I was hoping someone might have a secret formula for aluminum somewhere up their sleeve:cool:
