Balsa core / carbon fiber wrapped stringers. There will be no floor in this boat. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395434246.265949.jpg

Solid burgandy, black strakes, and I believe a white deck (non skid) Non skid might be grey though. Can't remember what we decided now..

Hope you went with the white non skid, it will look better than the grey IMO ...

I like the color combo though, black strakes will be a nice touch, why no floor ? To save weight ?

Would be a shame to cover up that flooring.

I was suprised you didn't have them block out the well at the transom for the outboard? Balsa looks bitchin.

What are you using for power? Will the plates be electric?

A mini hatch would have been bitchin' where the well is.... You could use that as storage and access to the battery and trim pumps. Might make the boat too heavy though....

Have to cut the mold to remove the well... or do it after the boat is pulled out.

The well will be removed and the notch filled after its out of the mold.

In post 7 you asked RD why no floor. I simply said cause he didn't want to cover up that parkay flooring. Why put that in if your gonna cover it up with a carpeted floor. Makes no sense.

Ya. I understood all that. Obviously if you were putting in a carpeted floor it would be a waste of time/money to have that parkay flooring installed.

I was asking why he opted for the parkay flooring over a carpeted flat floor....

And Dave replied because "Race boats don't have floors"!

Not sure yet.. I was originally going to do a one off hydraulic setup. I am being talked out of it currently by Lee in favor of a miniature mechanical setup.

here is your chance to machine V-Drive style rigging but on a small scale. I can't imagine the hardware would have to be to heavy duty for a 12'er

I was kicking the idea around of a v-rod motor in one since they are water cooled

I see several layers of mat. Do they use any layers of woven roving or cloth in the layup?

More pics, getting ready to pop out of the mold soon. They aren't in these pics, but there is actually stringers on the underside of the deck as well to make it REALLY RIGID.. The reason for these will become apparent soon enough. ;)

"Core Matte" which is interesting because it's not actually a core material (although that was it's original purpose) This is to prevent the glass from "imprinting" into the gel at a later date.

Bottom side of the deck with Stringers installed. :)

This will be the strongest mini boat deck in history.. :D I am planning on a long "ski race" style steering column, and putting the drivers seat all the way in the back. The stringers are to support the steering column and to make sure we don't crack the deck.

Between the deck stringers and the stringers on the bottom we also have all kinds of mounting points for all kinds of cool stuff down the road. ;)

i noticed that too. everytime i do glass work i always wonder about the big productions and how much "waste" they go through. i literally throw everything away. cans, brushes, rollers, etc. its cool to see how they manage to keep costs low for their work. tomato paste cans must be the way to go!
