Tim, you only met Sober me, even my wife says I'm boring now. I'm not sure if that means I like boring company? :)

That program looks difficult. I've considered trying it, but I'm not sure I can make that commitment. I would love to hear how it goes. The two work outs with one outside seems hard to schedule. The rest I could do. The Ultimate challenge seems to change from 75 days to a sustainable habit.
I did it before and I admit I cant motivate myself to get up and go ride my bike or walk in the morning when its 95* plus but its going to be doable in the next week with the temp cool off.

I've got plenty of hobbies, I find that having the big goal or Misogi Challenge really helps me realize the benefit, or maybe appreciate the value of sobriety.

I need a 2025 challenge, I've exceeded my 2024 goal of running a half marathon. (Did it twice) One issue I need to overcome is realizing it's ok to be a little selfish with my bucket list items. It's not a vacation for Angie if I want to go on a trip to run a marathon, it's three days of me. I'm not going to mix those with vacation moving forward. Honestly I may just go on this type of stuff alone. One thing I really miss from my younger days was fellowship with other men. Be it racing, martial arts, a personal trainer, or even weekly coffee with other entrepreneurs.

I kind of traded one addiction for another with my work schedule, I'm at the point in my journey that I recognize that. I did not go on a single fishing trip this summer and I live in the mecca of fly fishing, it is criminal.

In so far as meditation, I'm not built for that solo. If I want to take that path, I'll need a Sherpa. Thanks for the feedback, I need a good sermon.

FWIW I've never been serious about running. I could not run a mile two years ago.

Congratulations!

Man a half marathon that is bad ass! Any thoughts on a FULL marathon?
Running - a half or full marathon is like pure rocket science in my world…. Not going to Happen…

But I applaud those that can do it !

Keep on keeping on w/ the not drinking part.

That's awesome! 👍 🤟

With each passing year you will become more determined not to drink. SW I don't personally know you, but based upon what I've read - if you set a goal - you're not stopping until you achieve it. Thus is the reason why you will succeed.

Myself - I don't have a "Type A" personality. I put a lot of thought into everything I do, before I do it, and I'm always guilty of overthinking everything. But once I commit to something, I'm all in.

I miss beer. I loved everything about it. But 20-years later, I'm not caving on principle alone! I would feel like such a loser. The same holds true for being faithful in marriage. Hell yez I would like some strange! But the wifey knows I love her more than beer, and that's all she needs to know to feel secure.

Great job guys, awesome to read all these success stories. Just like children grow up fast, the decades of sobriety will also happen quicker then you ever imagined.

Thoughts? of course. About mile 6 when I'm in the grove, I think yea I can do this all day. About mile 10 I quickly settle back into reality and prey I can respectfully finish the Half. Then I'm mostly wrecked the next day.

People that do this type of thing know what they are doing. I learned a lot between the two and greatly improved my time on a more difficult course. I'm not running right now and it shows. I gained 10 lbs since Fathers day. FN Ice Cream and Pie.

I might try for a full to say I did it, my friends that have done it warn me that it does not stop there if I succeed.

The biggest problem for me is committing the time to training. It have a problem dedicating the selfish hours to this type of activity when there is work to be done.

alcohol has always been easy for me.....untill i got older. not because its harder to control how much i drink. in fact i RARELY drink during the week and its not at all unusual for me to go weeks or even months without a drop. but im closer to 60 now then 50, and just a couple drinks really screws me up and almost always have a hangover if i do drink. for that reason alone, when i do socially drink, i drink way less.

One other thing I forgot to mention but might have in the past.

Don’t wait until the Dr tells you to stop drinking! Nothing worse than getting to retirement and not having the choice.

If you think it’s effecting your health it is! Don’t wait until it does something permanent!
