Pull the oil fill when it's running and warm, that'll let you know if it is major blow-by. The front timing cover shouldn't be that much, but the timing case behind it sucks. I think from the factory both had paper gaskets.Anyone have a good source for a rebuild or long block. I’m coming up on 300 soon and want to be r
my timing cover is leaking and I think it’s blow by related I’d hate to spend 1500 to fix it all to find out it blows out again. I figure put that money toward a rebuild. I have the usual valve clatter lol.
My old 24v had 960k+ on it. Very little blow-by. That was also an early 6spd motor before they "made it better" for smog. A few of my friends are running late motors between 3 and 400k, and seem to run into leaks. A friend currently has his apart doing the o-ring between the adapter plate and block, behind the cam. He thought it was his oil pan. 10hrs later, nope...
