Someoneโ€™s got to pay for your .gov pension. ๐Ÿ˜‚ You should see the toll fees on the 91 and 241. ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ

This is the transportation related money being sent to California via the ridiculous spending of the Infrastructure Act. It totals $7.9 billion.

But they have to raise tolls.

Public Transportation: As one of the biggest investments into infrastructure, the Federal Transit Administration is sending California $2,198,453,377 in funding. Unfortunately, there is no breakdown in the excel spreadsheet showing how much each city or county will be receiving.

Roads, Bridges, and Major Projects: The Federal Highway Administration and the Department of Transportation are both supporting funding California with $5,195,426,776 in total funding. Unfortunately, the specific projects, cities, and counties are not cited in the excel report.

Transportation Safety: Various federal agencies are combining to send California $301,743,961 in funding. There is no specific definition as to what safety infrastructure projects will be supported, or which cities, counties, or entities will receive this funding.

Electric Vehicles, Buses and Ferries: The Environmental Protection Agency has sent California a total of $206,805,001 in funding. This funding is specifically directed towards selected school districts in California. The excel report shows that 21 school districts have received or will be receiving anywhere from $395,000 and up to $9.8 million in funding.

Ha ha. Iโ€™m not going anywhere. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I actually don't blame you at all. You have set yourself up nicely, and I commend it. I actually think I was one of the first to compliment your achievements into retirement.

If you think about it, the up and comers are not set up the same way as you, these kids struggle to make ends meet. They're not in the old school socal situation that you've lived.

These kids gotta travel, and live with others to just survive.

It's not the same so-cal that you were fortunate to grow up with.

I agree. The field guys at my old company live far away from where most of our job sites are. We started adding gas to our bids to help with the 15 trucks that the Forman drive home. Our VP lives 60 mile away from the office. But he grew up there.

2008 I had to travel to Boston Saks 5th ave. to install security cases and adjust their existing cases. 4.4 miles and 7 toll roads from Logan International just to get to Saks.

I love Orange County! especially Yorba Linda. Why the hell I left the security of the Orange Curtain is beyond me. :(

The orange dashes in the road map are toll roads.

I'm just saying when you think about how much so cal has been good to you, that with modern times a lot of guys are struggling.

It's not the same as when you started. We should all do better to set these kids up.

So cal has been pretty good to me as well. But I canโ€™t wait to retire and get out. I feel really bad for kids and grandkids who are going to have live here in a decade or so especially with who keeps getting voting in This place is nothing like it once was. Sad. The whole place isnโ€™t a shithole but they are trying really hard to make a 3rd world state.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I thought gas prices didnโ€™t matter and they never got factored into pricing.

Circa 2018

We have over 30 company trucks and cars. Gas prices have never caused us to raise our prices. Not enough of a increase to warrant it. But were in construction, not a delivery company.

They just started adding the extra gas fee a few months ago. Things change in 5 years. Back in 2018 most of the guys with company trucks lived closer to the jobsites. Some retired and some moved further out. ๐Ÿคท

And we said that wasnโ€™t sustainable for any successful business when CA raises their gas taxes. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Ha ha. Since 2018 we went thru 5 labor rate raises. About $15 total. Donโ€™t have to worry about that anymore. ๐Ÿ˜œ Our competition has the same issues.

Wasn't that toll sposed to be removed once the bridge was paid for? And wasn't it paid for in the early 80's?

Growing up in Vegas, I used to vacation in Huntington Beach once a year. I would rent a room at The Hilton on PCH, anymore I haven't been, I've discovered other places that are far better.

We drove across Florida a few months ago and there was a toll booth about every 1000 yards. I just paid $4.77 for gas locally here in CA which is not good, but mysteriously is less than we paid last weekend in PHX where there is supposedly no extra buck per gallon of tax that the Obama phone crew voted for in Cali . A good buddy who built a modest house by Lake Lavon (sp?) in TX 5 years back is paying 350 bucks a month more in property tax this year than 3 years ago . Our entire county in Ca has like 270K people total, no toll roads, and little traffic to speak of. Life is about choices . The whole F Cali deal isn't really a blanket statement for a better lifestyle . Me personally, I'd never live in L.A, SF, Dallas, Miami , NY city , or anywhere with lots of people so a toll bridge or road isn't on my give a shit radar .

Closest I'll get to the Bay Area is Sonoma Raceway and my FIL's place in Santa Rosa. Have no intention of crossing those bridges again.

and if numbnuts gets reelected I'm starting the clock to gtfo no matter how much I love my place unfortunately.

I think some of the bitching on tolls or other fees. Is that they were supposed be a temporary thing. But then the fuckheads in California realized we could screw everybody over and keep the โ€œfeesโ€. Because technically the werenโ€™t taxes. Again. Thatโ€™s the peices of shit that keep getting voted in.

As for Bobby V. Heโ€™s probably a lucky one and his neighborhood like mine where I grew up isnโ€™t the shit hole we speak of. So heโ€™s content to live it out.

MF'ers doubled the assessed value of my acreage in 2021. We still lived in Plano then. At the time, the assessment increase of personally owned land properties other than homestead weren't limited. Homestead it's limited to 2% annually, and this year the law was changed so it's 2% on all personally owned properties.

Fair comment on changes in SoCal.

I always find it amusing when a politician authors a bill to spend our money. They always hav a noble sounding title like this one: โ€œThe safe, clean and reliable public transportation emergency act!โ€

yet itโ€™s never really explained how the act affects any of those areas

You are confusing me with the vagrants using your sidewalks as toilets..

I didnโ€™t say anything about the cool spots we are all able to visit did I?

I just pointed out you get what you pay for ๐Ÿ˜‰.
