We were recently able to get the original copy of my wife’s birth certificate from a small town in Missouri. The actual librarian had access to it and forwarded us it the same day as I requested it pretty amazing for a town of six or 8000 people I would go back to your birth city and study that if you have the ability.

You have huge available resources here with this forum group don’t hesitate to take advantage of them. They will indeed help you let us know what we can do within reason.
Under normal circumstances, there's just a bunch of "know-it-alls"...
But when it's important stuff, my God, there are some super knowledgeable people here! This place can actually put Google to shame on some things.

@Willie B so sorry to hear what you are currently going through. I hope that you are able to get the help that you need. As other have said if you need anything please post up. You got this and you will be off to visit the Lion’s Racetrack Museum!!! I only wish that I was able to be of the age to make it to the track. I know how special it was for my in-laws and those growing up in that era. I am able to enjoy a few items that they had from those times. God bless you my friend!!!!

I've met and conversed with some amazing people here. As a whole, I'm fairly timid around people, not the most sociable type at all. I've always been extremely independent, not ever the one to ask for help. Truth of the matter, I'm real good with fixing broken things, and working with my hands, but beyond that, not at all the most gifted or intelligent.

Over the past couple years "here", I've reached out to a few people, on some things far beyond my skillset. Not necessarily to fix things, but for another set of eyes, a view on the situation at hand. As I've told a few people here, no one's life is perfect, and no one lives without a struggle of some type. With a reach this large, it's amazing to find others have dealt with the same issues in some shape or form.

… I just have to get this off my chest…Diana…I guess she would be the head social worker at the Maclay Health Care Center…Sylmar California..,
…In my opinion…she should not be allowed to deal with the patients at this facility…Her I’m going to stand on top of you attitude…Is unbelievable???… if this facility wanted somewhat who could thoroughly offended people…they have the right person…She is absolutely power crazed???…
… I don’t recall anybody in recent years..who has pissed me off so badly… it seems to me that they should have somebody in her position that gives definitive answers…not just we are working on it???… I am not the only person at this facility who had seen through her BS???…

…Aww…thanks man…it means a lot…I think by now you have realized that you have provided a real center for many to get to the crux of many different matters… I don’t think you initially intended it to be that way… But it is what it is.:.And bless your heart for what you have done…👍… I have probably posted all this before but your ability to put up with so much of our bullshit is pretty amazing…lol…

Post up the name and city of the place you are in.
…I am in The Maclay Health Care Center…Sylmar California…

…The business office manager is John Ramirez…He has either really messed up my Med-Ical application or has helped me…kinda hard to tell… He may be a great bullshit artist… I find it hard ti believe that Medi-Cal would not tell him up front exactly what was needed from me…instead 7 or eight days until I might get the you are now fucked option???…
… He now tells me, I was informed of what might happen with Medi-Cal sometime at the beginning of May… it seems rather odd that when a patient is really out of it they do not give him something in writing at that time…Dunno???… I would imagine there are many people above Mr. Ramirez… And he has indicated such??)…
…It looks like the woman…Diana…who I have taken exception to’s last name may be Rosas???…
…I guess I may as well post the letter from John Ramirez the business office manager that I received Thursday…I did not sign it
and as of yet have not heard back from the Judge…A busy man..,

They should not have access to your bank account amounts. They should be focused on getting your insurance to cover the bill.

I will ask my Mom if She knows any home health care nurses in your area. You have some funds in your account. I would say that you are much better off in your own home and paying the $275 a day to a caretaker to help you out at home instead of that facility.

Do not allow them any access to your accounts or check books. Tell them only way you plan to pay for your stay is through insurance or medical.

100%. . Do not allow them to access your accounts. I’m hoping all they can see are your statements that you provided and they don’t have access to your accounts. Do not sign over a check to them. They need to exhaust all efforts of insurance. Do you have an anticipated discharge date from them?

Has someone or you contacted your primary doctor?

Was your advocate present at this meeting with the office manager John? Your assigned social worker shouldn’t be upsetting you at all. Hopefully the faculty has more than one which maybe you can request a different person to deal with.

I am trying to do a bit of research to see how I can help.

In order to qualify for MediCal you have to provide bank statements and personal info. Too bad you are not an illegal, you would qualify without any proof. Do you have a POA? If you do, they should have been initially speaking to them since it doesn't sound like you were with the program. If you have family or friends that can coordinate a private caregiver, it might be cheaper and probably better for you to go home. Sounds like you are ambulatory and not bed bound and full care. The letter proves you are in this facility as a custodial patient, which Medicare does not cover. MediCal does and that's why they are trying to get it for you. If you are not on an APS hold, which I don't think you are at this point, you have the right to leave the facility. Doesn't mean they won't generate another APS report but if you have basics at home and someone with you or checking on you, they won't do anything. If you don't feel the social worker is advocating for you then fire her. Most facilities have a case manager and she can basically do the same thing for you. Let me know if I can help. Angers me that hard working people have to fight for benefits when they need them.

So so glad you are connected with such kind Friends Willie B. Especially Diana. Mama Bear has definitely got your Six.

Ran all this by Desert Dave in Yucca Valley. You are allowed to have a home.
Your SS can NOT be taken away.

Insurance companies and health care providers billing are cutthroat. Medicare Advantage plans especially United Healthcare really suck.

Texas Medicaid here is different than MediCal there in California. If it will even apply after 65. IDK about there, with SS.

You have many quality Individuals there on your side. Many hands make light work. RDP is awesome people. 👌
You are going to Dominate this with knowledgeable fighters in your corner. Godspeed Willie B!

When/if you do end up at home, you made several references concerning your bed being "really" tall. It does seem like these new mattress are six inches thicker than they used to be. Could you have the box spring removed ? Or a thinner box spring installed. Could a guy trim the bottom posts down without ruining the bed ? Or.... just get a different bed, even a hospital adjustable style. Seems like most med care policies cover those. I realize this isn't top priority today, but reading back, sounds like the bed caused the original issues.

Dang Willie, so sorry to read this and sorry to hear what's happening to you. Pisses me off to no end that you are required to go thru these hoops, while undocumented fuccs receive treatment without issue, or cost.

I wish I had more to add, but thank goodness for those peeps in this thread that are sharing their knowledge with you. Good on them.

Hang in there bud.

Had a few thoughts about the place of current residence, as well as their financial deal. First off, I trust no one...it is an earned thing. Unscrupulous people will do things, and sometimes those doing them don't even know why they were trained or taught a certain way.

If a customer/resident is paying on their own, there may be less of a chance that there is oversight to the billing. This place is for profit, and could, pheasibly, take private monies first, and then deal with insurance. Insurance usually only pays a certain amount, whereas an individual pays more. Not saying that is the case here, but as I said, I don't trust people blindly...just kind of an asshole that way.

You need an advocate, and one that knows the laws and angles. The people running the establishment have the advantage right now. I'm sure a trust or living trust also may help, but I don't know how for sure. Don't sign anything without someone else of your choosing being present.

… there were three mattresses on the bed, a boxspring, a regular mattress and a comfort, foam mattress, The regular mattress. Has been removed so bed height is a non issue now…
…I also have a hospital bed and a wheel chair…

A golf partner of mine had fainting spells, being light headed, fell down a bit. Turns out he had weak heartbeat. They put in a pacemaker and now he's doing great again. He's early 70s.

… So about the Judge… I thought he had not responded to the letter I got from John Rameriez…the business manager of this place… But he had… I found his reply in my emails… but I was unable to download the reply for some reason???…
…So he read it to me…Holy crap it was unbelievable…and brilliant…Didn't sound like it came from the same guy I hung with and ate dinner with for years???… if the download… If his.response had come through in my emails I would’ve posted it here… But now he has told me that he would prefer that it not be posted on the Internet, as he is very retired…
… The bottom line to his response was…why would you sign this letter…and kind of why would you sign or agree with anything this guy has to say???… a suspicious character indeed???…but I guess that what they pay him for???…
… He would also prefer that I do not go to the 11 am meeting with the higher ups of this place tomorrow…. As I think he is afraid I will open my big mouth.???…
…Looks like tomorrow will be my last day here???…

First so sorry you’re having to go through this, try contacting the hospital you left and ask if they have a social worker that can come see you as a first step.
If this doesn’t work ask the facility that your in to speak with an administrator or manager and see if they can provide help in attempting to get a road or path to recovery.

If this fails and doesn’t work you may need to complain of chest pains or something severe enough to get transported to a hospital and then ask for a social worker ( every hospital has them) they assist in guiding you through the proper steps to getting health and long term assistance.

I have been going through the ringer with my dad since Jan with multiple procedures and a recent stay in ICU so I am familiar with the insurance limitations and antics but have seemed support and guidance from social workers as they do this for a living.

Wishing you all the best in your health recovery and hopefully they find your problems and can get you past them.

Sorry you are going through this. Just start saying " no comprende engrish" and everything should be free at that time. Or so I am told. Pretty shitty the way the seniors are "taken" care of.
