Is it true that people use to be able to boat under that?

Affirmative. (JBB Style)

Big huge dock in the way (water level up) now and quite possibly a tour boat as well. :D

I can only imagine how much of a hike it is now. Nice Pics.

I would love to see pics of when the water was up that high and it was "boatable". Beautiful pictures.

Photochic and I were there June '05. I twisted my knee :mad:the first day in camp so I soaked it in the lake all day watching the snow melt off of Navajo Mnt. The next day we hiked to the bridge. My son wanted me to carry him back to the boat.....:swear..NOT! I was able to ride my jetski quite a bit for the rest of the week though. I ended up having knee surgery :eek:upon my return from that vacation.

As for the shirt, suppose most of us been there too so no apologies needed.

The last time I was there in the early 90's there was almost water under it. The water level stopped about 100 yds short. That was a great trip. I gotta make a real effort to get back up that way soon before it's all dried up.:(

Will the water ever get that high again? Is that the lake that is supposedly drying up?

I should have gone ten years ago when I had the chance. I was too hangover and slept in on the houseboat. Hope to get back to Powell soon.

:Dmy parents used to have a houseboat up at wahweap. ive been going there for about 18 years. bridge is pretty awesome ive seen climbers actually climbing over the top of the bridge. seen the water slowing underneath it. and now they discovered the dino footprint pretty close to it. i dont know if they kept it this way but i dont think you can actually walk underneath it anymore due to the fact that the indians have said it is "sacred ground" now. its worth the hike anyways

It's completely sacred and hallowed ground now, they have fenced off the entire perimeter due to safety concerns as well. Powell has more or the equivalent coastline from the Baja to BC, and it's deep, drying up is highly unlikely. If you haven't been, you should, it's absolutely incredible, no 91 fuel on the lake as of 2006.......
