Looks like the sticker prices are going up on VW, Volvo, and Mercedes.

“Volkswagen AG plans to add import fees to the sticker prices of its vehicles shipped into the US, indicating Trump’s 25% auto duties will have an immediate effect on Europe’s biggest carmaker. Volvo Car AB and Mercedes-Benz Group AG are looking at expanding local output to sidestep the levies.”

And this is exactly what the president is trying to achieve. Bringing back jobs to America.

Luckily the tariffs haven’t affected the Charger EV prices, they will start paying people to take them soon lol.

Let them mark it up all they want. When the cars sit on the lot for months and don’t move, they’ll rethink their strategy. And I just love how they mark up the cars that were already here before the Tariffs went into affect. Buy Amurican. 👍

Good news for me.. I dont give a shit..
I have never owned a European car in my life, and I never plan to.. I am over 50 years old.

There is not one VW, Mercedes, BMW, or exotic that interests me… Thats before the tariffs…

Regardless of the initial cost of the vehicle… the cost of parts/maintenance is the key reason I will not own one.

So the solution is to do nothing about it, make no effort to correct the problem, and continue down the path we have been with huge trade imbalances and other countries taking advantage of us?

It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off...
It’s has for me and my friends and family

Really? Inflation hasn't hit you at all? I guess you'd also be somehow immune to a declining job market and economic recession were we to continue down the previous path.

I know it's really hard for liberals, but try to think long term.
It’s a little set back don’t panic we needed to reset this country

The good news is gas prices haven’t hit $7 a gallon. 😉

No idea what you are trying to say, but a reset of the country is what's going on right now. So it sounds like you agree?

It's funny how people expect immediate results and think that improvement can occur without any initial discomfort. Time for a reality check.

BMW has a factory in South Carolina, and it is the largest BMW factory in the world at 8 million sq. ft. on 1150 acres
Mercedes has a 6 million sq. ft. factory on 966 acres in Alabama
VW has a smaller factory in Tennessee

Audi and Porsche which all are basically VW currently do not

I would imagine these plants will expand pretty quickly to make more models here

That BMW facility builds SUV's but sedans still come from Germany.

Since WW2 in various ways the USA has picked up the tab for the free worlds economic recovery and defense.
Time to reset.
Liberals never willing to take their medicine.

Most VWs are made here anyway.
VW's new Scout will be produced in So Carolina.
Most the rest of VW's lines will platform off that too.

Good work ethic in that region.

1000 ft lbs of instant torque dog hauler. Hell yeah you can bet I'm in on that.

Golf R is a cool ride I’ve had my eye on. But the 2.7 caddy CT4 has almost the same performance specs and same price. American cars are overlooked to quickly.
Never thought of comparing a Caddy to a VW.....I bet the reliability is in line as well lol.

About 60% of what that plant produces get exported....should be fun if any receiving countries throw retaliatory tariffs back at us

I didn’t know I was voting to have my net worth on paper drop by 30% in the last 90 days 😂

Nice work Donny.

You haven’t lost anything unless you’re desperate and need to sell off your investments. I don’t know your financial situation but if you’re selling today I’d agree it’s going to be a rough weekend.

For now I’ll just buy stocks at a severe discount.

I could see relevance. If you are older you should be more established and less effected. Younger or starting out in adulting you could be hit HARD. A child would be affected by the parent’s situation. 🤷‍♂️

That's all beside the point, which happens to be "Is this good for the country or not?"

It is. Long term.

We all deal with timing issues in our lives. Things might make it harder for younger people right now, but those younger people will see better times ahead along with everybody else as a result.

The alternative is do nothing and everybody has harder times for their entire future. We must endure some difficulty now for better prosperity later. It's an investment.

From what I read, it wouldn’t be this way but the Europeans permit the French is so freaking stuffy. They just blew Trump off and some of those areas charge 30% duty for American vehicles. That’s why there’s none there. When all the smoke clears, I won’t be surprised if it ends up at 10% because the debt is so high dig deep in the ass. That’s truly what’s going on here. Biden made our debt so high three lifetimes couldn’t pay it back so he’s got her on the fast track plan.
