I have decided to sell my 2001 Hallett 270. MCOB (it's a conversion) with 502 MPI. Motor has 414.4 hrs on it. Many upgrades done in the last few years and not much use due to wife's medical issues and a few of my own. It's not perfect, but then again it's about as original as it gets for a 23 year old boat, except for the upgrades.

I would also like to sell my 2019 GMC 2500 HD Denali Duramax pickup truck as a package deal, if possible. Only 48,600 miles on it and brand new tires. Also has approx. 3 years GM extended warranty left that can be purchased. Has a hideaway gooseneck hitch in the bed, tonneau cover and AMP Research powersteps. It is a great truck and I love driving it, but I really won't need this much truck with nothing to tow. Asking $59,000.

The main reason to sell is I just don't have the time or the desire anymore. It's become work and not fun anymore. Seems like all I do is work on it. I'm getting up in age and it's more of a PITA to take it out, come back and clean it and then put it away than I want or need to deal with. My wife can't do as much as she used to, but unless she is there, I won't handle it alone. Just too much boat for one. JMO...

The upgrades and other stuff I have done to the boat (I'm sure in the coming days, I'll remember other things done) is below with a few pics of the boat and truck.

2001 Hallett 270 - $60,000

  • Boat purchased in Feb, 2016 and has 502 MPI with approx. 430 hrs. Had a valve job at 385 hrs when purchased. Had leak down and compression test done at the time. All cylinders we excellent except one and valve job cured that. I’m not sure it was needed, but it came with the sale. Long story.
  • Boat was closed bow when purchased in 2016 and was converted to MCOB by Bill at ARKO in Havasu.
  • Covers: Bow cover in 2016, cockpit cover, full mooring cover plus an almost impossible to find, lightweight dust cover (has been repaired and patched, but it works).
  • Exterior: Gel is in very good condition. All standard items work (hideaway cleats, nav lights, etc. All decals changed from flat black to chromed 3d letters, including registration numbers in Hallett font.
  • Interior: Cockpit: Original interior in frost (light grey) vinyl in cockpit and hatch cover. Condition: 7-8/10. Cockpit carpet new in 2016. Teak floors are original, but showing their age. Mid cabin cloth seats replaced with new vinyl in 2016. Condition: 9.5+/10. Open bow: All new vinyl in 2016. Condition: 10/10. Storage steps built in mid cabin at entry from cockpit and also at bow entry in 2016.
  • Motor and Outdrive: Upgrades include: New IMCO manifolds/risers and IMCO oil filter relocation kit due to manifolds. Outdrive was completely serviced in 2020 to include new bellows, shift cable bellows and a parts checked and were fine. SS Hardin Marine Gen IV sea water pump. Fresh powder coated battery boxes. Pro Mariner 2 gang battery charger. New Interstate batteries last year: One starter and one deep cycle. Will come with one of the following: a Rev 4 23p prop (have 2), or a Hill Marine Pleasure Five 21p or a Hill Pleasure Five 23p propeller. The other props will be available for sale if wanted. All are in near new condition. Lots of miscellaneous parts will be available for sale also.
  • Other Upgrades:
  • Push button start/stop. No key needed.
  • Kill switch installed.
  • Livorsi throttle in chrome w purple knobs
  • Brand new IMCO full hydraulic single ram steering system installed in 2023
  • Brand new Isotta Carlotta steering wheel in purple
  • New IMCO tilt helm post
  • Instruments:
Newer Faria gps speedometer
New Faria water pressure gauge
New Faria depth finder w/air and water temp (to be installed)

Trailer:

2000 Extreme triple axle trailer.
Converted from surge disc brakes to Carlisle Hydrastar EOH in 2018/2019.
New bunks, fender boards and carpet in 2017.
6 Maxxis 205/75R 14 tires with maybe 500 miles on them – 4 years old (I think)
Trailer completely broke down, blasted and powder coated (Color- White Aluminum) in 2019 – see below.
Added SS 9” fenders during refurb in 2019
All newer LED running lights w/ SS covers in 2019
New trailer wiring in 2019.
Added bunk slides – easy launch and retrieval of boat.
New two speed hand winch
Added ladder to trailer for bow entry.
New 3d decals in chrome for Hallett 270 and Old Extreme logo

Sorry to hear Pat. Shes a real beauty. Should sell quick. I know you’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, & money in it to make it as nice as it is. GLWTS

I can totally relate. Few years ago at the end of summer I was winterizing 4 personal boats to prepare for winter and leaving the state for work.
It hit me that I wasn't enjoying what felt like work when I should be enjoying myself. I'm OCD about my toys and every morning I was waking up to the to do list and it was dragging me down.
Ocean boat was the most work and became the least used, kids hit teen years and started finding other interests, ton of work and money for something that wasn't getting used enough.
Miss both boats sometimes but the time I have freed up was more than worth it and I use the last 2 boats way more now, life is just simpler.

The only constant in life is change. I can certainly see how the reality of this bums you out, but I would urge you to embrace the opportunities that come with change.
Good luck with whatever you decide. And best wishes for you and your wife’s health issues.

When fun becomes work its time to change and go back to fun.

Embrace your place in life and enjoy.

One of the most pathetic displays is when someone tries to deny their phase in life.
Example is when a 50 year old tries to act like a 20 year old.

Wow! Don’t know what to say except I know a serious candidate for the boat. Hang in there Pat!
Well, if it doesn't sell, I'll install it this winter. I just couldn't pass it up when you offered it up. LOL...

Headed up to the boat today to get more pics and surprise it started raining. Went back home and damn if it didn't stop a little later. Should have just kept going. It is supposed to rain the rest of the week. So, I may have to wait until early next week to go up and get more pics. If there is a break and we get some half-ass decent weather, I'll head up there. I have a lot of pics from when I bought it, but they aren't up to date.

Sounds good!
Looking around just now and found a few other pics that might show you some more. These aren't new either, but it will give you an idea. I don't know the actual hrs yet, but I bet I haven't put 50 hrs on it since I bought it.

Should be obvious but for those who hadn't noticed, this is a straight bottom boat.
Some consider it the Holy Grail of 270's..
Nice looking boat. Reasonably priced, should go quick....

I really like the 270. The only thing that scares me is how small the cut out is in the forward portion of the cuddy. Doesn’t allow much space to get into the bow. I feel like it’s a pain in the butt to be honest. This boat is cherry! Cant stop looking at it.

To be honest, the opening isn't all that small. I'm not sure, but I would guess it's the same size as a factory 270 opening. From what I found out at the time, Bill at ARKO was the interior guy for Hallett for many years and had done many over the years. That's why I had him do the conversion. I figured he would do it right. I should have had him install a factory style door on the front end when they did the conversion and all the other things I had them do. It would have cost another $1500 or so, but I had already spent over $10K by then and couldn't justify it. Hindsight!!! It does have a snap on cover that closes the opening off, but I have never used it.

I'm close to 300 and I can get through it ok. However, I rarely go up there. I had it opened up for my wife to sit up there and for the grandkids if they ever wanted to go out with us.

I am interested, I previously owned a 2002 270, looking for a 270, where is a airport close to you to fly in from Burbank Ca.?
Houston intercontinental is about 20 min from my house and 50 from the boat at Lake Conroe. If you are flying SW you have to fly into Hobby which is in SE Houston and is about 1/5 hrs from the boat depending on the crappy Houston traffic. Just an FYI - I'm still trying to recover from a recent knee replacement. Have to have a flex manipulation procedure done on Monday. So, hopefully I'll be able to get up to do stuff with the boat in a week or two.

Well, hell boys, I'm now boatless. I'm pretty bumbed today, but there is one guy who is happy as hell. He's dragging his new to him Hallett 270 back to Havasu (where she came from). Here is the happy guy.
