So, anyone have any special dishes they make for turkey day other then the traditional stuff? or maybe a real good tasting spin on the norm? Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays cause it gets family and friends together without having to get gifts or some bullshit. Racey and I last year (not for thanksgiving) tried a cajun boiled turkey recipe. It was pretty good but not good enough to ditch the traditional.

The wife’s dressing with Parmesan and Romano cheese is always a big hit. Trying a bourbon pumpkin pie this year.

We're doing a crab boil this year in the desert. Using a turkey fryer to boil Crab, Shrimp, sausage and potatoes. Should be pretty damn good
You forgot the corn o cob

The brussell sprouts cranked up with more flavor. Cut each sprout in half. Coat in olive oil and finely chopped fresh garlic. Then pan fried in a skillet. Finally they get doused with balsamic vinegar at the end. So damn good. Even better if your up for it, add in some Pancetta or chopped bacon.

So much better than mom's sauteed in water then a bit of butter added.

Same with mashed potatoes. Add in a bunch of garlic or wasabi.

What is this sorcery you speak of?
A couple years ago we hosted TD and my wife came up with this from the inter web.
A paper grocery sack. Coat the entire inside with butter.
Coat the bird in butter.
Place the bird in an aluminum drip pan, place it in the bag. Staple it shut.
Cook the bird.
No basting or anything.
It came out looking like the perfect TD bird. And besides deep fried was the best I’ve had. (Haven’t smoked a turkey myself yet, so)

I was very skeptical when she laid out the plan but it was a homerun.

Edit**
I wrote that wrong.
Put the bird in the bag, place them in the drip tray. ;)
Don’t do it the other way, lol.
