Isn’t that over 200mph?To put it in perspective my wife just saw that officials are saying that this fire is moving forward at a rate of 80 football fields a minute. Holyshit that is insane. Stay safe up there don't wait (no acronym here) GET THE FUCK OUT!
I think what they mean is the fire line is 2 miles long and eating 80 football fields a min, so that would be more like 60mph.Isn’t that over 200mph?
Ahhh, that makes sense.I think what they mean is the fire line is 2 miles long and eating 80 football fields a min, so that would be more like 60mph.
HV hands for what it worth I got a text from PGE (on there outage contact list) that said they had cancelled, for the time being, the shutdown plan they had in play. According to the weather people the winds are supposed to drop a bunch tomorrow.
I am told that the hospital in Paradise was evacuated, (confirmed) and subsequently burned, as did the McD's, and most of the business district. (Unconfirmed)
I am told the fire started due to a downed powerline along Camp Creek Road, and burned right through the town. Unconfirmed.
I know for a fact 3 ambulances from our town hospital rolled up there and brought patients here during the evac.
A local strike team is there.
I know a couple kids on it.
Power is out all through the area, up to Magalia and sporadically elsewhere. If you have family up there still and they don't have power I suspect it will be a long term outage. Cell towers have been burned, cell service is dicey until you get back down in range of the Valley antennas.
Butte College classes are suspended. Chico schools are suspended.
A couple good links for information...

https://yubanet.com/ (ignore the whacky leftist commentary, their fire coverage is pretty good)

Our irrigation water is shut off for the winter. It gets going here I am screwed.
Tomorrow and Saturday we will be doing loading the 5er again and getting ready.
Until we get some serious rains the days the north winds are howling scare the crap out of everyone living in the Sierras.
KFI is reporting that this fire has quadrupled overnight from 20,000 Acres to 70000 acres.
Crazy.

I'm so very sorry to hear this.My dad lost his house in Paradise.
This was yesterday and it has only gotten worse. Look how far the smoke stretches. That big lake to the right is Tahoe and just at the bottom of the smoke is San Francisco just to give you an idea how big it is.

This just makes me so sad, so sorry to hear this.My girlfriend lost her house in Paradise yesterday, the whole town burned down.
A few citizens did not make it out, burned in their cars. Horrible. Godspeed to all the pets and people who did not make it out.
Thank god she had her little girl with her when it all went down, Paradise burned down in just a few hours.
