In September of 2019, BoatTEST.com conducted a thorough review of the SHARROW PROPELLER™ and compared the performance to industry standard stainless steel blades. Click on this video above to watch the full video review. Results from the extensive BoatTEST.com review prove that the Sharrow Propeller™ demonstrates the following advantages over high performance comparison blades:

1. Performs significantly better at idle

2. Planes at a lower RPM

3. Is faster at all RPM settings

4. Gets significantly more mpg at 3000 and 3500 RPM

5. Is more fuel efficient at every speed through water setting

6. Is as much as 18% more fuel efficient at 26-28 MPH

7. Produces the highest top speed

8. Creates noticeably less vibration

9. Is generally quieter

10. Has superior handling in tight turns at high-speed

11. Improves handling in reverse

12. Provides the greatest range at all speeds

$4500 for the aluminum version
$9FUKING GRAND for the stainless...

They better be indestructible for higher than giraffes pussy kinda money.

I was going to post the same. Read about it this morning, if the results are what are seen here: https://www.boattest.com/Sharrow-Engineering-Propeller , then this thing is the real deal.

Edit: Mercury or somebody will buy this guy out, learn to cut costs, and it will be mainstream, or it is all BS. One of the two. I don't see how it can be BS with Boatest.com getting involved.

When reviewing any invention, the standard statement is "in God we trust, all others show us your data." This is data. Very good data.

Send me a couple to demo, if it’s all that they say it is it’s worth the $$, hard to believe it’s better in all those areas as claimed.

At 9k, I'd better be able to chop through floating logs like a Vermeer wood chipper!
If they are truly God's gift, we'll be seeing them on race boats...as apparently they have no downside other than cost.

That looks like it takes advantage of the vortex created by the end of a conventional blade, kind of like winglets on an airplane.

A big company like Merc Marine has the $$$ to invest in a product like this (or to buy and kill it  ) and reduce production costs while lowering the sale price and increasing their profit margin

I'm curious to see how it works, if at all, in a surfacing application

Why not just winglet the tips of a traditional prop blade at a fraction of the cost?

Innovation...is awesome.
9000 wont be the mass produced public cost. Give it time
No reason to believe its not better than what we are currently using.
Computer aided design. Models. Etc allow all kinds of things to be built better.

Coming to outboard soon

Yawn.. haven’t we hashed this out already on this forum? This prop isn’t going to deliver like promised. It’s also not designed for performance boats.

Even if its only half as good as claimed, 9% increased fuel milage( they claimed 18% in the mid 20s mph) is huge for comm'l use. Take a merc mag 350, at 3500 rpm it will burn 18 gph( stats from merc) thats ~3.5 gph. For a boat that could easily put 1000s hours a year. At 1000 hours it will save you 14k a year in fuel. 1st year it put 5k in your pocket using $4 a gallon.

What does “performance significantly better at idle” mean? How do you measure “performance at idle” and who cares?

My point was “how can you measure” that vague statement? It’s a tip off to a bad review.

This isn’t a tug and barge forum.. We aren’t running cruise ships. This prop isn’t any good for performance boating and will have an insignificant impact on any pleasure boating. As I’ve explained before, this design has been proven ineffective in aviation, and I have no doubt it’s contribution to the marine industry will come up short as well.

Agree. Not a performance boat prop. Not an effective design in air. OK. Air and water aren’t really comparable though when it comes to prop design. I’d like to see how this would do on my pontoon. Not going to pay that kind of money, but if they work for pleasure boating I’m sure the price would come down quickly.
