Funny side note: My 6'4" 16yo took the varsity heavyweight spot at his school about two months ago. Last weekend they were at a tournament, and my son was wearing flannel pajama pants and his team warm-up jacket over his singlet, between matches. Coach gave him shit, and asked him why he wasn't wearing team warm-up pants.
"At the start of the season you only handed them out to varsity..."
Today at practice coach got him a pair of warm-ups...so he'll look the part at tomorrow's event.

Last weekend they were at a tournament, and my son was wearing flannel pajama pants and his team warm-up jacket over his singlet, between matches. Coach gave him shit, and asked him why he wasn't wearing team warm-up pants.

When I was a senior in HS, I had to wrestle off with another guy every week for the heavyweight spot in the varsity match. I couldn't beat him. It was close, almost every go went the full six minutes.

I felt a little better when he won the NM state championship. I told him it was because he had a tough practice partner.

The pj wearing kid did a fantastic job. He walked away.
Then got hit.

It must have pissed him off, because he ended up taking that match by a point. He made it to the final round, and should be up about now. Sucks, this will be his first time placing at a varsity tournament, and I couldn't go

My guy's specialty was the belly to back suplex. He never got me in one, but just about everyone he wrestled fell victim to the up, over, and was pinned.
