Took Pops for a walk on the bluffs above Dog Beach this afternoon.
Had my camera w/ Me.
Waves were semi-decent . . .and I see a dude 'Foiling' (semi-common now) . . . but then I see him getting 'towed' !
Took Me a few to wrap my head around it.
Somehow the dude had some type of small powered tow-rig with a tow-line attached.
It was very small, but obviously powerful enough to pull him up and get the foil up & out.
It was 'steer-able' and the guy guided it around, and into a bunch of waves.
The dude had it down pretty good.
Once he was on a wave he'd throw the line & ride the wave. The 'tow rig' stayed right where it was.
The guy was probably 500-600 + yards away from Me, so I had to 'crop-in' heavily on these images so they're not the greatest images.
This one is right as he 'pulled-back' on the tow -rig, to sling-shot himself into a wave . . . .
Same Wave . . . you can see how he's passed the tow rig, (behind him) and let go of the line . . .
Steering it on the outside . . . .
Not sure what powered it . . . I'd assume electric . . . but it had some balls, and pulled him around for quite a while !
Here you can see he's gliding in on one and the tow-rig is on the right side of the image just sitting there waiting.
Heading back out for another one . . . .
Pretty cool deal if that's your jam . . . dude obviously knew what he was doing.
You can see on his left wrist a pretty large band/ bracelet . . . I'm assuming some type of communication device.
Trippy.
