Strap in for a good ole fashioned high-speed showdown between the world's greatest exotic cars -- Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren -- and a Tesla.

It's the seventh edition of Motor Trend's "World's Greatest Drag Race" and this year the big boys from Italy, Germany and Detroit are getting some electric competition. To be fair, the Tesla Model S P100D was the heaviest car in the lineup, but y'know what guys always say ... maybe size doesn't matter.

Yea , who cares ...I still wouldn't want an electric car ...did you hear the scream of the Ferrari or the Porsche or the Camaro ? The day you take delivery of an electric car , is the day you go on testosterone supplements ...LOL !

They try and use fresh new cars...z06 was in last year.

Personally I think it was a hair rigged. They have been pushing tesla pretty hard lately and i will admit it is a stupid fast car but watch the video and tell me it doesen't look like someone hit the brakes on the new 911 turbo s. Tesla would have gotten it off the line and easily to the 1/8 mile but that Porsche mclaren and Ferrari should have yanked it really hard the last half of the track.

We are fortunate to live in a day where there are so many great and fast cars. A good half or more of those cars on the list are out of reach for most folks though. Regardless the cars that had a manual transmission (Grand Sport and ZL1) were at a severe disadvantage compared to the autos and PDKs in the group. You just can't get the power down quickly enough with a manual tranny and the amount of power they are making.

On another note, do that race 4 times in a row (hot lapping) and see how things fare out.

Fun to watch non the less.

It's hard to tell with all the camera/angle changes....but imho the ferari and 911 turbo seemed to be pedaling a bit.

I have the car in the test just a couple of years older -Tesla P85D Ludicrious (I bought it for my wife). It is an awesome car and if I need to go into LA for work great hitting the car pool lane with it +++. If I was buying a car for myself... I would go with the the 911 Turbo or 488.
