For your entertainment.... Has Havasu at the end.
Excellent video, thanks for posting.
Not really. That ding dong doesn't know the first thing about the water levels below the dam!
When building the dam, the contractor used an aggregate for the concrete that is causing a chemical reaction that is negatively affecting the concrete and the structural stability of the dam.So what's the big secret??
I got bored after just a few minutes.
So please, tell us how you really feel. Not really. That ding dong doesn't know the first thing about the water levels below the dam!
I wouldn't believe a word that came out of his mouth.
Theres some 10mm sockets down there. So what's the big secret??

Time to do some magnet fishing!Theres some 10mm sockets down there.

I'll see if I can find the article I read about that and post it.
ETA: found it. Wikipedia article for Hoover dam: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoover_Dam
“Hoover Dam concrete is not subject to alkali–silica reaction (ASR), as the Hoover Dam builders happened to use nonreactive aggregate, unlike that at downstream Parker Dam, where ASR has caused measurable deterioration.”
Back in the day you could do a self guided tour through the dam.
Walk around boozed push a button and you get a voice telling you what you are looking at.
If everything was done to a "T" concrete will last about 100yrs before is starts degrading. So if the concrete was mixed 100% perfect the Hover Dam is almost maxed out on it's strength.I remember those days as well!
When my friend got his pad at Big Bend, I was telling him about it. He gave me his usual response...
No fucking way! You're full of shit!!!
Somewhat true. But, we rode our bikes up there anyway, pushed the button, and the elevator door opened up.
Again...
No fucking way!!!
Then 911 happened.
That was Hoover Dam. But with the numbers of tourists crawling all over the place there, it would be impossible to hide something there.None of you watched transformers huh
At Parker Dam, not long after 911, I once watched a motorhome pull up, out jumped about 6 guys who looked like NFL linemen. Together they moved one of those cement J Rails just enough for that MH to fit through and pass over the dam. Wish I had that on video.
Yes.You watched this happen with your own eyes??
Yes.
We were there for 911, camped on the beach at Black Meadow Landing in our little 18’ travel trailer. Believe they blocked off the passage for all vehicles crossing the dam that day. The placement of J Rails and the netting seemed to happened in stages. There was fear of terrorists attempting to poison the water in Havasu. Turned out to be a very unrealistic concern, due to the volume of the lake. The moving of that J Rail by those guys happened later. They were able, as a group, to shove and move that thing. And yes, I saw it with my own eyes. Big boys for sure.Crazy.
Back then I remember there being like six of those things lining each lane, with that steel pinch point making the lane even smaller.
On both sides of the dam!!!
It's much different now though. Musta been refrigerator Perry and his buds???
I too lol'd at his assumption of when the level would be flowing highNot really. That ding dong doesn't know the first thing about the water levels below the dam!

Pre-911 we'd often float right next to the dam to chill. I even recall the HeatWave(later desertstorm) Poker Run had a cardstop near the dam. Right after 911 they put the floating barriers in at the mouth of the dam cove.We were there for 911, camped on the beach at Black Meadow Landing in our little 18’ travel trailer. Yeah that was the best spot to waterski through down by the springs. Always smooth, really nice water for some hard cuts.Pre-911 we'd often float right next to the dam to chill.
