Be safe, and post pics of anything amusing or interesting!

Heard I40 east of Flag and into NM was a bit windy for the high profile rides the past couple days, didn't hear much about the southern areas down 10 though.

We have been back in Colorado for over a month so we leave Cortez go to Farmington and hit 550 through Cuba to Albuquerque to 40 East. Hardly any wind across 40 so far. Stopped in Cline Corners for the night. Damn roads across New Mexico could beat a dead dog senseless. Just taking it easy no rush. Mrs doing well with no problems. Glad she decided to quit the chemo, quality of life much better for her.

There is a truck stop on the very eastern edge of NM that is worth the stop. Has a decent auto collection that is free to meander thru, store is neat and clean. Russell's on exit 369.

The roads do get progressively worse until you hit TX.

Used to stop there when coming back from the summer shows back east. 20+ years ago, I think the owner was the son or grandson of the guy who put the service station in way back. He was just starting to wake that place up. Big, corn fed guy. Asking how people were and where they were going or coming from.

Found it completely on accident. Shit roads (and maybe a touch overweight) conspired to shear 6 of 8 lug nuts on the right rear of the truck... Tow truck driver dropped the trailer at Russel's and then towed us into Amarillo so I could fix it in the AutoZone parking lot.

Next day we got to spend a little time at the museum when we went back to pick the trailer up.

So evidently your camera must have broken on all those rough roads. 😁
2 things
One it’s a little hard to take pics herding a 34’ brick down the interstate. Two there ain’t shit to take pictures of between New Mexico and Texas.
Stopped for the night in Elk City Ok and have severe thunderstorms and possible tornado to night. Now THAT could be worth some pics Dorothy

Made it to Somerset. Temp parking until tomorrow. Have to sat the roads anymore are just a shit show rough and rougher. Wind through Oklahoma was a bitch but usually is anyway. Had a haji trying to pass me at about 3 or 4 mph faster than me lol. Problem was he had 6 or 8 semis backed up and a shit load of cars, so this moron in a white compact came flying by on the shoulder. Scared the shit out of me lol. Just knew we were going to be in the “big one”. Anyway made it here and will be doing some sightseeing and taking pics. In case you are wondering, that is our dog fencing on the back so Charley has his own little yard . Don’t know if we will set it up or not this trip.

Finally get to post a few pics. Storm gone and not raining for awhile. This is the Happy Camper RV park in Somerset. Beautiful location, big flat spaces and full hookups and great WiFi for 32 bucks weekly rate. Talked to owner and he asked me what I thought of the price because he has people say it’s too high. I laughed and said I don’t know where the hell they’ve been staying because I thought it was dirt cheap compared to places we have been in the last 20 years or more. Anyway here are some pics and more to come. The creek runs behind our spot.

Trees, creek and full hookups...that's dirt cheap alright! Can't even find a parking spot for a truck for a night for that. I think you did great!

Promised pics so here is some car porn. Friend of step son has these and 2 or 3 other warehouses full. All for sale. 49 GMC with LS and full resto with aftermarket frame. The 2 GTX are numbers matching automatic one in front is full resto, 4 speed car in back needs minor resto and he has new interior parts for it.

If I had your money I would. Don’t think it would flat tow as good as the jeep though.

Did a drive to see some civil war battlefields. Couldn’t imagine fighting in these woods but I guess Vietnam had some of the same challenges.
