Did u inherit it? Choose cause u had a friend with one and u loved it. Cost? Avaliblity? Settled?

I kicked tires and banged hulls for three years before commiting to a build. I chose my laser cause it came stock with things that were options on many other boats and at the time the customer service was great. They always fielded my questions and treated me like a king everytime i walked in. Other mfg's vibes werent nearly as welcoming.. Id prob be in a cobra had it not been for one particular person there. My boat was the best bang for my buck at the time. Had i had known my financial situation was gonna get way better 3 yrs later id have waited and gotten into the 32 lavey ive always wanted. So what about you? Y are u in the boat ur in?

What a stupid way to think. Mortgage the house and buy, buy, buy. It's the American way. :D

What are you, a commie?

I wanted a boat that performed as good as it looked! Had a 26 LaveyCraft and was beyond satisfied! Especially when we went to Catalina in it multiple times! When I had the opportunity to step up to the 29 LaveyCraft it was a no brainer! My boat performs as good as it looks :D We can't wait till we step up again .... And yes, the next next step will be a LaveyCraft also!

the boat i currently have was purchased by my brother and a friend of his. his friend didnt want it anymore after a while and wanted out. i saw how much fun my brother was having and took over the loan and started to use it ... eventually paying it off.

if i were to do it all over again, i would've done my homework.

but still, if i didnt take it over, i probably wouldn't have found out about hotboat ... which would've lead to not finding RDP and knowing who i now know.

i can't speak bad about my sled, it has never left me stranded and gets me from point A to point B.

Mine is purely a starter boat. I wanted something, in my price range, that could get from A to B and not look too dated and simply be a honda civic of the river. And big enough not to sink in parker. Best in breed, but a jet boat, so its a gold medal in the special olympics. Next year I hope to upgrade to a bigger i/o.

We can sleep on it, live on it, play and sun on it, tow with it, do the ocean with it, Lake Powell with it,, Bahamas with it,, tow it,, lot's of comforts like Dual Sat TV's, A/C etc.,, and a 6 year warranty.
More adventures than any other boat I've ever owned.

Yeah but u gotta stop for gas 2 times between A and B and A = the channel and B = the springs. Lol

My uncle was a Sleekcraft dealer and lived on a lake in Soda Springs, Idaho,
I used to spend a few weeks at his place every summer as a kid and fell in love with them at an early age.

I'd bring home brochures, cut the pictures out and tape them up all over my room :D

Grew up in an early 80's Eliminator whaler.....always loved it as a kid. Easy to get in and out of, lots of seating, and user friendly.
So I found a comparable boat. '85 Eliminator openbow day cruiser. Will make a good first boat to teach my family watersport....by then hopefully I'll be able to get something cooler, faster, newer :thumbsup:D

I'm not sure why I still have my boat. Probable its paid off, is easy on the fuel, and has enough room to streach out.

I've been wanting to build a new Eliminator, but just don't have the time to use it. Maybe in a few years.:thumbsup

I spent years researching the very best boats. I didn't just want something really good. It had to be the very best at every metric that myself or anyone else could think of.

This was to be a world beater. A boat that would never be topped, that could never be improved.

That boat turned out to be the Carlson CVX-16.

Started out with an 18' production boat. Went through a 20' then succumbed to the Hallett seduction. Had a 24' built and after 4 years decided to build a 27' Hallett. 12 years later and I wouldn't change a thing.

A friend had a 24 Spectra we used to take out all the time, loved that boat! Ran into a guy up at Naci who gave me a ride in his 20' and was sold. Been looking for a while and finally found one that had all the things I wanted. Besides...fucking Spectras are just easy on the eyes :D ANd I love love love the seating height...looking out over the bow of a 20' is something special :thumbsup

Mostly it was the people at Eliminator. I also started researching the bottom. Powerboat claimed in 1995 when they named the 250 Eagle runabout of the year, that it ran 78.9 on radar with 415 hp and a 24" 4 blade prop. I've since learned this is probably impossible, but it was in print. It does however run low 70s with 4 people and handles well and is just big enough for Havasu. I thought I would probably get something bigger eventually, but now I doubt it. I'm actually pretty happy and have had no problems...:thumbsup

Married and no kids, bought a 21' Eliminator Formula, first kid born and bought a 238 Carrera, 2nd kid born bought a 34 Magic. Lifting my 100 pound lab into the deep V was a bitch, so bought a Conquest Top Cat II deckboat. Buddies joke that I have a 100K dog.:D

Our little Lavey fits our needs, wakeboard, cruises, and fits on the side of my garage! It even gets us to Catalina! LOL

Sure I'd like to have something bigger...but I'd have to pay to store it somewhere, pay more insurance, pay more in gas, more work to clean.... etc. What we have fits what we do.

When that big settlement check comes in maybe I'll get a deckboat....but not now. :D

The boats I've owned I bought using 2 factors, use and budget. I chose each boat based on where I boated, I'd then search a style that I liked, then chose that boat based on my budget. I've never financed a boat.

On a side note, I'm pretty hung so I'd be fine in a Bay-liner!!

Because there's nothing more fun than 1500 horsepower in a 2000 lb boat. I keep the beds, sinks, toilets and accomadations for 20 friends at home. :cool

We do a lot of Boat camping, but got tired of setting up tents on the beach :grumble:. So we went looking for a 25' closed bow boat... no such thing in the southwestern US in 2005-2006. We lost a year of boating looking for one.

This boat popped up at Eliminator, it was 10 years old, bigger then I wanted, and severely overpriced, but I got an immediate erection when I saw it, so we bought it...

We've used the shit out of it, and love it. And since I'll probably never be able to afford anything newer, I imagine I'll have it till I die.

My dad and I own the boat together. He was getting tired of having to use the step ladder to get into the open-bow/cuddy deep v we had at the time. Also, his knees were not too happy going into and out of the cuddy...so we bought a Howard Sportdeck. Gene and Mike were great to deal with during the whole process and have been great afterwards. I consider them friends.
