I see some twin outboard DCB's in the $700K range, how is that possible?

Do you see how many places they put there logo. Every head rest, arm rest, seat cushion, foot rest, grab handle, carpet, brand and series logo is everwhere. Then billboard the Side of the boat with the company name. That shit aint cheap!!! Just my opinion.

If I could afford one, which i cant...I'd be that guy with only the logo on the glove box.

I could be wrong, doubt it, but I don't think DCB has sat idle any time in the last 10 years. They seem to have a non stop back log.
Material cost are up. Labor is up.
But more than anything else is they no longer cater to 90% of the boaters out there
It's a wealth niche market and they do very well with it.
I applaud them leaving the last shop. That area is a total ahit hole now.

If you have to ask you have never crawled around one or have much experience with top quality products.

I looked at your post history to try and find something you could relate to but there was nothing.

It takes time to build top quality products, time cost money...

Go take the tour and see how they are built. Prepare to be mind blown.
From tooling to lamination, rigging, interior.
They employ top notch people that earn top notch dollars.

Every single fiberglass component is infused which is a costly and time consuming process not to mention the engineering involved with tooling molds to fit precisely.

Maybe Tony reads this and posts up some pics of the various process and such. I think you would be enlightened.👍

keep in mind that the M37s are all carbon fiber. The materials alone are very expensive. It’s also supply and demand, there’s not a lot for sale and a new one is a 2 year wait, so used ones holds their value. If you get a chance to crawl around in one, you’d see why.
Simple answer is because people will pay it.

Twin OB MTI’s are about a million, I’ve seen used 39s in the 900s.
Agreed, when you see the prices of others in the same category, the DCB actually looks like a bargain.

I’ve learned some people just have it like that. My buddy that just bought the sport coach got a great deal. The guy he bought it from needed the room for his new DW. A lot of these guys enjoy the build process more that the actual boat itself

DCB is one of the best high performance manufactures in the industry. Look at the fit and finish infusion process, all the little details etc. when you factor in motors at minimum 100k then a Nico/adrenaline trailer at another 80-100. The boat isn’t priced bad considering the current market. Sad thing is even at that price I’m sure there isn’t a ton of profit in it. If you’re in the Manufacturing industry the words CUSTOM means you won’t make a ton because how long it takes to design perfect and be happy with your product there is numerous revisions behind the scenes the customers would never even know about.

Cause they are fookin siaaackkk!

Seriously. How much is a Lamborghini? Price seems fair in comparison. One is a tiny car with one engine. The other a huge boat with two engines and a nice trailer.

Have you ridden or sat in one? Look closely at what goes into the craftsmanship. Attention to detail doesn't even come close to a definition for the work they put out.

I wish I could step into that playing field. Maybe after my numbers hit on the lottery tonight.

Building, utilities, insurance, payroll, don't forget how much they spend sponsoring events also. Then you have to consider just working capitol they need to operate on a daily basis. They aren't bringing money in daily like a retail store so they need schedule payments on builds very carefully to operate. They aren't a high production company either and that's why you get the quality you get buying one.

If tomorrow they dropped their quality and prices by 10 percent or started cutting corners but upped their production by 30% it would kill them as a business.

The outboard builds aren't as cheap as people think anymore either, a pair of 500's are probably in the 150k or more range alone.

I've had three DCB's built over the years. One thing that they never do is compromise on quality. What they always do is use the finest materials, employ the most talented craftsman and fulfill their promises. Every experience was absolutely a pleasure.

If you’ve ever worked on top tier boats like Hallett , DCB , Howard etc , and you’ve worked on cookie cutter boats , you’ll appreciate the extra care and effort that goes into them . Some people don’t and that’s OK .

Everything is more expensive...the 2003 Chevy 2500 I bought in 2003 was 34K... In 2023 its like 70k... In 2004 a DCB 32 was around 300k; I am sure an M33 is now around 400-600k depending on what it is powered with.....its inflation, cost of doing business, devaluation of the $$...many things go into it..

Well recall the LA Boat Show of many years ago at the LA Convention Center. DCB and Shiada Boats were clearly the highest quality performance boats of the entire show. And in those days, there were numerous manufacturers represented.

I thought it was because of the matching towels and black socks...
We wear flops now and MTI graduated to black socks LOL.... We build 15-17 very high end custom boats a year. We truly are one of the last boutique builders out there. It is so tough these days to stick with what made you who you are, however we do and will stick to that. You have to deliver what the market bears but with 35 employees we are doing what we are capable of with quality being number ONE. With 250+ employees like some of the other manufacturers out there your production goes up and quality goes down. DCB is DCB and will continue to be DCB. The Hargreaves want it this way.

Tony with that said. What builds do you have coming down the pipeline? Any more M44S or have a lot of people transitioned to the 37 and 42R? Is the CC still something you may bring to the table.

We are still going to have the 42 Center Console in the next two to three years, but we are spraying and laminating the first M-42 right now. It is in the booth. We are tooling an M-34R as we speak. (True Tunnel smaller version of the M-37R) We have another project as we speak for the big inboard Mercury QC4V coming as well.

Stay tuned with the future models coming.
