This guy loves Beaver.

Long day crossing the desert to get here, Vegas by 11:00 am and then it got hot, real real hot. Running the little class c and flat towing an outfitted JLU. The little rig ain’t no hill climber but with a little finesse and common sense she gets it done. Didn’t miss a beat, got us into Beaver for a nice afternoon swim, wife hooked up a plate of pasta and now it’s cooling off just right. I have a million irons on the fire right now, so what better time to pack up the wife, kid, and dog and hit the road for a few weeks.

The little 15amp charger I put in the jeep to offset the dometic cooler while towing got a work out today, the cooler finally shut off a little bit before we arrived and went from 37* to 55* I should have cracked the windows open in the jeep for the crossing, I know better. aux soft sided cooler is now iced down and we’re gold, no harm no foul, but it was a scorcher today, it’s about 72* here now and getting better by the minute. Today will be the last real heat we see for a few weeks.

A night in beaver KOA was a good spot to rest, take a swim after a long day driving, that was a long leg and we will have to reapeat that on the way home in a few weeks. Onward and upward we got places to be and people to see. My buddy Tom builds homes up here in Bear Lake, gotta say this area is stunning and I’m stoked to finally get up here for a good visit and get to check out the place. We tossed a few tritips on the smoker last night, broke out a bottle of good bourbon from the secret smuggled on stash on the motorhome, and stayed up way too late bullshitting and having a great time. If anyone wants to build a home up here or check this area out, Tom would be the guy to talk with. He’s an amazing host and someone I’m glad to call a friend. We met about 6-7 years ago at a mutual friends wedding out in Texas, couple hundred people in attendance and we just clicked and have been pals ever since. Some people are kindred spirits, and see things the same way. He and his wife have built an amazing life up here for themselves, hard working pillars of the community. The area has a population of 500, however during the summer that swells to 50,000 at times. This is a vacation area with a constant feeder from SLC. He has house builds starting at $500k and a dope ass lot right here in his subdivision is around $250k. The house in this video is his private home, this one isn’t the $500k build pacakage, its a bit past that mark😉

I’d highly recommend this spot as a place to go, we’re gonna do some boating later when we get rolling, I was supposed to go to work this morning and walk a jobsite, however I’m a hot mess right now and working on getting my shit together for the day after last nights festivities. More than happy to put anyone in touch with Tom who might want to make a run at this place in some capacity.

5 minute drive to the marina and we launched the boat, no lines. My daughter got to try wake surfing for the first time, she got up a few times and had a blast. My buddy Tom was making fun of me because after I parked the truck I locked it and brought the keys down to the boat. It’s a whole different life up here. The lake is big, an amazing shade of blue like the carribean, just stunning.

I could see myself spending some time up here in the summers, however there is an ax murderer named winter that shows up out here and it’s no joke. This past winter bear lake actually froze over. I believe they got like 600” of snow or some insane number.

Tom and I both recovering from our little fiesta last night, apparently 3:00 am was when we shut it down, what are ya gonna do, sometimes a party breaks out when you least expect it. 🤷‍♂️

Couple pics of houses my buddy Tom has built in his sub division. The lots are about $250k and the basic build starts at $750k these places are allowed to be STR $800-$1200 a night, booked solid all summer. HOA is $500 a year plus seal coat for road when needed. Property tax is .52% as I read it.

My take is this is a buy and hold lot situation, build out if you need to stash some money someplace and create passive income. One of the great summer spots IMO, nice, clean, conservative, low crime. It’s not ultra rich playground, this is solid middle class place.

We went out and walked a couple job sites today, then took the Jeep out for a spin in the woods and scoped out some trails that the boys snowmobile in the winter. We’re getting on the road in the morning and headed out for our next stop. We also toured an LDS tabernacle from the 1800’s, while I don’t know much about the religion itself, the docent was very pleasant and I did learn a few things. Life’s a different pace up here, it’s been very cool to experience it.

I don’t know dick about winter, I’m a SoCal guy, we travel into and out of our winter spots for activities. I’ll admit that the snow mobil thing has peeked my interest. These boys are set up to play hard in the winter. This fireball keeps a 2000’ shop in the 40-50* range in the winter when it’s 0* outside. I learned about frost barriers, ice dams, snow plows, snow blowers

We packed up and hit the road, quick 2.5 hour drive up to Jackson to set up a base camp, have some friends coming into town later on the week, should be a good time.

Any tips on Jackson are welcome, we are going to the rodeo later this week. My wife’s stoked because they have some fitness thing she into here, she’s always doing some new shit, I dunno, but keeping it tight is okay by me😂

The little motorhome is kicking ass and taking names, without the Jeep in tow it hauls ass up these hills, I unhooked the Jeep and had her follow me up from bear lake, but the reality is there were a couple small grades so it would have been fine. No need to stress equipment is my thoughts.

Jackson is busy, we walked around the main downtown today, grabbed bite at Jackson Drug, great milkshakes. Watched the shootout and browsed a few stores. If you like consuming cool expensive shit, jackson will not disappoint LOL

This cutlery shop was pretty rad, o guess there is an ass for every seat, but I’m not dropping $20k on some kitchen knives, however this is all they sell, some stuff was less, but still not inexpensive enough for a schlep like me to consider purchasing. This is the kind of stuff that gets me in trouble, if I want it I’ll just figure out how to make it and off we go down that rabbit hole🤷‍♂️

My wife is pretty set on me and the dog both getting matching Big Lewbowski sweaters. This sweater was originally made by Pendleton in the 60’s, it was discontinued. Jeff Bridges had one in his closet and showed up at the set with it and that became “The Dudes” look. After the film Pendleton reissued the sweater due to demand and now it’s a very good seller. At some point the pet version was introduced 🤦‍♂️

Not sure how long you guys are there or what you like to do, but there are a ton of great hikes and small lakes to explore. If you have sups or kayaks you can go on the Snake River just south of the dam and paddle about 5 miles in calm waters. There’s also String Lake which is beautiful to paddle or hike around. The boat across Jenny Lake is great and there’s a short hike to a waterfall.
I recommend evening drinks on the patio at the Jackson Lake Lodge for seeing wildlife. Also, the back entrance to Grand Teton has great viewing spots for seeing moose.
Leeks Marina is a cool place to get pizza and ice cream.

The Jeeps all set up to explore off the beaten path, fishing gear on board, beach chairs etc.. we’ll try to get out on some trials and explore a bit. My other buddy has an outfitter camp between Yellowstone and Teton parks, we’ll head up there for a few days next week and ride horses and base out of there for some Yellowstone exploration.

The RV park here is located about a mile from the downtown square, it’s pretty nice and wasn’t very expensive per night compared to getting a room someplace around here. It’s part of a lodge, so we walked over and used a fire pit last night around sunset, it cools off here at night pretty good.

Waiting for the boss lady to return from working out, figured a tour of this little motorhome would be cool. It’s a 1999 26.5” coachman leprechaun with a rear bathroom on an f450 chassis with a v10. Has airbags and hitch is rated at 10,000lbs. I bought it from the original owner who ordered the build with some really cool features and also did lots of upgrades while he owned it. It was stored under cover while not in use and waxed after every venture, it’s a total low mile creampuff and that’s why I picked it up. Asking price was $20k, I didn’t negotiate, just said yes sir I’ll take it. The pride of ownership the seller had for this little rig was evident in every nook and cranny, just spotless, loved, and well maintained. He and his wife went off to the side before they agreed to sell it to me and she said this is our guy.

So the big thing for me was the large rear bathroom, having two woman on board that’s a BFD, it’s large enough they can both go back there to shit, shower, and shave (or whatever it is they do) at the same time 😂

The kiddo get the upper bunk over the cab, it has a nice mattress and honestly is the best spot to sleep in here, wife and I hit the fold out couch, which will be getting one of those nice blow air mattresses that has the pump attached and will evacuate as well as inflate.

The galley is well equipped and the layout works. Some motorhomes are functional, and some are lame ducks, for a pocket size RV, this one hits all the points well.

I have three buddies who are inline should I decide to sell this little rig, but at this point it cost me $35.00 per month to insure so I think it’s gonna be around for a while. My one pal was so pissed after he saw it, has basically the same thing he just popped $120k for, I looked at 10 units before finding this creampuff, all were clapped out.

Waiting on the girls to get ready so I did some chores here in the trailer hood. Dumped the tanks and filled up the fresh. The pocket motorhome came with some cool little improvements, this one is pretty slick. He took an ABS closet flange and mounted it in the floor of the tank bay, plumbed the dump hose up inside it permanently. Under the rig he put a 90* that swivels out and has a cap on the end, also has a hook and cable to secure when closed position.

When it’s time to dump the tanks this whole operation is really smooth. I’m not sure what the new rigs have, but this would be a great mod to any motorhome if it doesn’t have it already.

Amazing, and they pair well with fry sauce. Never has fry sauce before, now we’re ordering it everywhere lol View attachment 1255052

Went through on my Harley in 2008 riding up to Sturgis, pretty much did your same route. We jumped off the 15 and got on the 89 just past Parowan. That section of the 89 from Logan up to Bear lake is beautiful, it's like riding through a green tunnel.

I stayed at the same place in my motorhome. Was a perfect base camp spot while in Jackson.
