I am seriously looking at buying a used LaveyCraft. I see both the NuEra V- Bottom and the Sabre Cat hulls. Two of the Sabre Cat sellers are going to buy V-bottoms. I realize a Cat should be faster but not turn well and a V-bottom is smoother, turns better but is slower thru the water. Is there something else I am missing? I do not want to buy the wrong boat.

Cat's are much faster and ride smother. V's turn better and handle better at lower speeds and plane sooner. I'd say if your not using it for skiing, tubing & wake boarding I'd look toward a cat.

What do you plan to do with it? Cats are not good for wake boarding or skiing. I like this 26' on cl http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/boa/3907204241.html

Now that is a beautiful fucking Lavey!!!! My god, I wish I could afford that. We bought our 07 LaveyCraft 21' XTSki last year for 30k and I hope to step up to something bigger like this Lavey some day. If I had the money or budget, I would be in that boat, like NOW!

all mentioned regarding the cat and v are true.I've grown up with both, driven them both sea and lake.I pulled the trigger on my Sabre in 06 because I was
single,w/ no children and I have a little problem w/ going fast:D.I love my Sabre, but things have changed, I need some more room for the kiddos a 2.7 year old and a 2 month old now.I want a "V" for doing some Ocean stuff, and more room for the family, my Cat is an ocean virgin,BTW,and it's for sale in the fresh/salt section.I used my Sabre to camp in no problem out at mead, it has a lot of room actually, just a bit tight w/ two younger kids who require a bit more down time. You can't go wrong w/ a Lavey,I ride in my buddies 29 NuEra all the time out in the ocean,it's unreal.

I have never owned a cat, but I have talked to Chris at Lavey about the Sabre. I understand insurance on a cat can be expensive, depending on the power. I think that's the main reason you see a lot of under-powered (IMHO) cats out there.

I also asked Chris if they would ever build a cat one size down from the Sabre (I would prefer one a little smaller), and they will not. Too much liability.

I had a daytona. I'm now on my 3rd V, and it eats up the rough stuff. Love the Laveys. This is my 2nd one.
