I'm looking to gain some sound on my boat. Currently I have Gil manifolds and my water dumps into the exhaust after the first elbow. I'm looking to change out the manifolds for some CMI's or lightnings, and trying to figure out where I want to have that mixing point at. I've been told the further downstream you mix it, the louder. But I don't want it to sound like a set of bassetts coming down the river. I'm considering mixing right at the transom, is that a good point to accomplish more sound but not too much?

My boat has the standard BBC exhaust manifolds / elbows, and my tips exited above the swim steps / above the water line. Was loud as shit....I put mufflers in :D
How loud do you want it?

No I'm going to do tails all the way through transom with the ring and gray seal. This is going in a 25 warlock cat

I guess technically you could run them dry, which essentially is what you will do if you dump the water at the transom. Dry=hot. If the motors covered that would be a bad idea.

Actually one of the ones I thought sounded great was Headshothills DCB Mach 26 when he had his old blower setup. Haven't heard it since he changed it up, but I've heard his old setup a few times on the ramp. Sounded awesome

If they are CMI's or lightnings they are jacketed though

I just thought that(water jacketed) as I hit submit. My turbo set up is a bit different. If you don't mix it should be loud.

Old exhaust was Lightning, mixed at the elbow, baffles removed... New exhaust CMI, water jacketed through transom and mixes with exhaust at last inch of tails... Loud, but not obnoxious.. Ask Warlock1 or BeerMaker, even McRib and Budman have heard it coming back through the gorge...

I have the Gils on mine. I had the risers extended to the transom and jacketed all the way (water mixes right before the transom). It didnt really make mine much louder.. maybe a little :grumble:

I'm not sure if I like the entry's there. These will most likely get chopped up a bit before they go on.

I have lightning dry tails on mine. Water mixes 3/4" of an inch from the end and dumps out through a few drilled holes. Sounds awesome, but gets loud on long runs. I keep ear muffs in the boat for my little ones now.
