When I realized that some of my employees parents were younger than me. And some of their moms are hot.

The big one for me is watching my 83 year old parents really start to slow down. My dad was in a softball league into his seventies, and still enters the Wisconsin Senior Olympics for SWIMMING! But over the last ten years he's had three types of cancer, is now blind in one eye, and has given up water skiing, downhill skiing, and bicycling. My mom had a stroke just before last Christmas, and is doing very well all things considered, but can't drive any more. The fact that their time remaining is so clearly limited makes my time limit very, very real.

I'm 53. Carpe diem.

Growing up Sir was how I was taught to address any adults, regardless of age. So it's never bothered me, because I've never really associated it with being old, just being an adult and mutual respect.
What I do not like, is some youngster calling me DUDE or BRO ---- unless of course we're good friends and just goofing around.
