What's over at Magic Powerboats?

Anyone heard anything new over at Magic and if everything has been resolved? I read all about the bankruptcy and then the back and forth with molds and all the drama. Essentially are they still taking orders and producing boats or is no one trusting Tony over there?

I would love to place a new order but from what I have read I am a little skeptical that they have the where with all to produce a dependable hull anymore.

No idea.. There was a guy that supposedly bought "magic" at the Lake Havasu boat show.. He was laying out all the dough and Tony was going to continue to manage it for him. I'm not sure if that ever materialized or not?

Maybe.....but I seem to remember a Magic Deckboat easily pushing $125K with moderate power before the market crashed which is not too far away from where the Nordics are right now......I think.

I would like to know as well.
Bashing on a guy trying to make it in the boating industry is not in good taste. Hear say is just that.
Maybe RD should go down and talk to him and put a lot of the rumors to rest.
I for one would like to see Magic building boats and creating some competition.

I talked to tony Friday morning and he told me that he was waiting for some guy to invest in his company and hope things would start to take off.

I am on my second Magic. I will say my 28 is bullet proof. I run the shit out of it and have only had a sensor good bad to date. I'm looking forward to something new coming out from them and my third Magic one day. :thumbsup

On that note, my boat is an '05 built in July '04. 300 plus hours. Only issues were some stress cracks by the front swim platform. Best boat I've ever had, by far. It handled the shitty water coming back from the south on Saturday.

Plus, it looks gooooooooood.

I'll say this. I don't know anything at all about Magic or their boats. From what I have seen, they seem to be a good build, I am not the guy to ask about how good. Thing is is this. With all the great (used) boats coming up for sale lately, if that was my comfort zone, 100k+ I believe...I would still be hard pressed not to go look up that 28 bullet that got posted up on here off CL earlier today first. Especially after all that has been said on here. I'm no expert on Magic, so if that is what you want, do your thing brother and post up the build photos...but with the buyers market out there being what it is.....well...:rolleyes

took over it seemed like it was ok, the only issue I saw after taking a serious look at the new 'H' deck boat was the lay up looked poor. The bottom just wasn't straight, very wavy. But that was left over from Rons magic. Also the sales guy was a joke, he isn't there any more, nor is any of the old inventory.
Fresh start maybe, Id love to see them start producing. I think they could compete, but it would need to be new designs, the older deck needs a refresh or people will by used since they have been trouble free over the years. Its going to take a serious huge investor to start again and compete. But you never know, I cant even get another deck boat builder to even call me back! (not Nordic, they have been awesome) There is still a market for new boats out there, its smaller, but so is the competetion

Yes, plenty of solid stuff, most of it has already been said on this forum and like the other guy said it is a PUBLIC forum. You may recall the thread about Tony owing money to people that put deposits on boats that never got a boat, people going down there and knocking on the door and Tony not answering when he was clearly there...That stuff has already been said, remember?

Now personally...My father in law bought a brand new 28 deck from Tony. Not only was the boat rigged incorrectly (motor was 4 inches to low) but thank god for other great people in Havasu (cough cough, AJ at Barrett) it was caught and corrected. Stereo install was completely screwed up as well and had to be fixed.
My father in law spent a big chunk of change on his boat with a 900 teague motor and every option available, Tony did not know what he was doing and it cost him ALOT MORE money to make the boat right (new drive, raising the motor etc etc). And when Tony was called out it was the usual "well bring it in but it is not under warranty so we will have to keep it for a while and charge accordingly". Needless to say the boat will never go back to magic.
