I've seen a couple posts on other threads about different ways people pull their boat out and put it away, up hills, around trees etc.

Our house is on a cul-de-sac, which make our lot large enough to store our toys, but it's a tight fit getting them back there between the house and wall, plus our drive way has a decent slope to it. So here is what it takes,
20180603_093201.jpg

First I have to hook up the 5th wheel and pull it out blocking the whole street. lol
20180809_173543.jpg

20180809_173555.jpg

Next I hook up the power caster and get it out to the gate, after removing the front leg of the canopy, it's got to jog over about 10 ft in a 20 ft distance, twists the axles pretty good, can't imagine what it would look like with a triple axle trailer.
20180603_092616.jpg

20180809_174003.jpg

I can only bring it to the top of the driveway with the power caster, the driveway is too steep to go down, I know from experience

once at the top of the driveway I can squeeze a vehicle behind the trailer and hook up the boat
20180809_174635.jpg

now it's time to squeeze the boat out past the trailer, usually off the curb
20180809_174740.jpg

and finally put the 5th wheel back. Putting it away is the exact same, except in reverse, usually in the dark, after a 5 hour drive back from the river.

Used to take over an hour, I've cut that in half in the last few years.

The arial view gives and idea of how tight it is.

Yeah, I think I'd figure out a way to keep the boat in front of the trailer with the truck in front of the gate. I wouldnt deal with that rigamarol every time.

I would not be a boater if I had to do that. I have to pull the boat out from the side of my house and drive 7 minutes to the lake, and I'm still considering giving it up.

My old place, I did the same thing, but it was my son and I pushing the nose of the boat over then forward enough to get it around the corner of the house not to hit. Dual axles makes pushing the nose left and right kinda tough, but at the time, it was only a 21’ Daytona. As my boats got bigger so did my son and our workouts on Friday nights moving boats. Then we got the 26’ Daytona on a triple axle, it would take all we had to scoot it inches at a time to swing the nose over, we would rock it back and forth, as the tires flexed, then puuuushh, and there would be a little skid sideways, 15 or 20 of those, and she was lined up to get out the narrow part. Then Sunday night, do it all in reverse. When my son moved out, I was fuuked. So came the Havasu house, strait shot level driveway was the requirement, hookup, drive 3.1 miles to Windsor.

Another good question is how many of you guys store where you let them know your coming, and they have the boat out ready to go?

I’m tired after reading that. No way in hell I would go through all of that.

We used to at Rogers place in Parker big building next to chase bank but his hours kept shrinking, so it no longer made sense at that point

That’s quite a process!

I have a 3-car garage (normal 2-car, with setback 3rd stall). I park the Accord and boat (diagonally) in 2-car section - stalls 1 & 2, respectfully, with my Chevelle in the 3rd stall. In the driveway: S10 and Sierra are tandem parked in front of 3rd stall door and my Focus in front of stall 2 where boat is parked.

Let’s go boating! Move the Accord to street curb, swap Sierra and Focus, then move any “stuff” around boat and the 12-ft latter over to now empty stall #1. Drag boat out with Sierra. When ready to leave for lake, clear the “stuff” and latter to stall #2 and put Accord back into stall #1. Reverse all the steps when putting boat away.

Not terrible, however, still a PITA. It’s worse if cars are parked differently in driveway. Not to mention that the garage is basically useless due to boat preventing me walking around inside back of garage or easily driving my Chevelle (it has to be pushed out/in to open driver’s door). All for less than a handful of boating days a year. The wife refuses to go boating anymore, but our girls love it. So just the girls and I go boating, but I’m not sure this is sustainable.

My house is the same way it sets on kind of a pie shaped lot so the house sets on it straight but the garage is at a slight angle. Its a single drive way at the bottom and then opens up to 3 car wide up near the garage. Really kind of sucks moving cars in the street to get the boat out.

Every time I put mine away I say it’s for the last time and I’m getting storage at the river. That’s what I say, but hasn’t happened yet. From house to wall is 108”, so I have 4-6” on either side and I just have to back it in straight after making a turn. Usually only takes one try

Mines in backyard so gotta move toyhauler park in street then walk boat out into middle of driveway. Hook up to truck pull into street.

Makes it easier if wife's xterra is home I use that to move toyhauler into street then back it into driveway when done. Otherwise I have to use my truck pull toyhauler out unhook hook to bboat park in street unhook rehook to toyhauler park it unhook then rehook to boat.

I wonder if instead of stressing the tires and axles if the wheel dolly things would work . Like the ones parking garages have when you park some where you shouldn't.

I hate to not have the boat next to me. I like my stuff near so I can keep a eye on it. But I don’t have the room for the boat so I have it at a covered storage spot. No it’s not a garage but it’s close and convenient. And the owner is super cool about taking care of my needs.

You guys have it easy. I start by physically removing my gate to get the enclosed trailer out. Simply opening the gate won't do. Then after bolting up the removable tongue, I get to pull the boat out of the garage (with a separate vehicle) and stage it behind the enclosed trailer to so I can wench it in. Next, I strap down the boat inside the trailer and of course make sure I have a ton of shit loaded in the trailer as well. When that's done I get to hang the side gate back up. Getting home means doing everything again in reverse order plus a full fuel system flush and then fixing whatever broke during the weekend (always something).

He's still young, full of pep and vinegar.
.
When I was young I did similar stuff to store my crap at home, even cut and reshaped part of my house's roof to make it work.

The upholstery in your boat looks grey. Or is it damaged from being outside under a tarp? My old boat looked similar when I stored it outside. Had to replace it.

That only happens if my wife is at the house first.

I agree with what's been said. It's nice to have your security blanket close by. That being said, mine isn't going anywhere anytime soon. But when it IS finished, it will be a straight shot down the driveway out to the street. That is quite a ways off though!! Will have to move a few cars out of the way first but it won't be a big deal. Some really nice boats you guys have!

I can squeeze it in front/under the trailer but it wouldn't be under the canopy and I don't want to think about what it would do to my interior sitting out

I unlock the door and open it. I back the motorhome up, hook up and away we go.

When I get to the beach, I unhook the boat, park the motorhome and then unload on the beach with the deuce and a half.

Only do that arrangement during the summer time and if you're that concerned about it (you have a good cover on the boat it seems) you can just get a shorter cover that goes between the 5th wheel and the gate. Then when jts time to switch to winter toys, go back to your current arrangement.

The boat is easy, I might have to move a bbq or something in front of it but usually I don’t have a car parked in the way. The Coach is another story! Ranchero, C-10 and Caddy all come out (as in the pic) then a 3-5 point turn in reverse out the door, put all the cars back and I can back the coach back in and open the slides without ever moving the boat.

I would love to have something like that, I could see myself getting in to trouble though, the only thing that keeps me from getting more toys is lack of storage. if I had that, I think I would fill it with projects I might never finish. lol. like my garage now, but on a much larger scale!

About 30min out from the lake we call ahead for the boat to be pulled out of rack and lodge. Gigantic fork lift picks it out of dry storage and drops it in the water. Park the car, hop on, turn the perkos and away we go. Easy peasy

I have storage, pull up roll up the door, pull the cockpit covers off(keeps the dust of the interior) hit the boat with the duster and were gone.
At home, I have a 22' x 54' rv pad, the boat and toyhauler can sit side by side

Start by pulling the Fusion out and parking across the street. Then pull truck out and back up into the driveway. Move all the bikes and stuff over to the otherside of the garage, hook up and pull out. I have to turn my truck sharp right when pulling out to get the damn trailer to move.

Once we are ready to leave I park in the middle of the street and then pull the Fusion back in the garage.

That’s from it sitting outside at SunCountry before I bought it. Don’t worry though, the purchase price more than made up for it. Planning on taking it into Laveycraft after thanksgiving for new interior.

Just open the big garage door and hook it up!Well that works for the pontoon boat .If I want to take the Schiada out I have to pull pontoon out and park it to one side on driveway then pull the Schiada out. Either way not too bad.
