We are wanting to encase these wood support columns with a more finished look.

I just never had to hire anyone for this type of work. Is this a finishing carpenter or a framer?

A sider is who I would look into doing it..

A framer can do it as well as a finish carpenter as far as the build out.. but a sider should be able to do it all ready for paint.

Depending on the material you want to use. Might even be a mason and not the “free” type to be clear. This is RDP after all

local large Builder Lumber company.. ie Ganahl, Jones etc. (not HD or Lowes)

ask them what style corbel or trim detail would dress them up.
Your looking for their opinion.

Once that task is complete ask for a referral or you might be able to do yourself.

as HNL mentioned, you might entertain something different..
brick, stone, stucco

ITS ALL ABOUT THE TRIM DESIGN.

Good luck, enjoy

Looking for more of a craftsman style column. So trim would be a must.
How is grove lumber? They have a location in Ontario.

The guy down the street, with the same elevation already did rock half way up with caps. To busy for me, especially his entry wall is rocked as well.

The corbels will most likely have to come off. Replaced with metal or whatever finish material you decide to go with. Finish carpenter or siding guy, really depends what material you want.
Look into Masonite trim If wanting a wood look.

“Column wraps”. Might do what you want. The beams and posts look in great shape.

100% they are coming off, looks to western.
Want caps on top similar to the bottom and cased in.

you have stone and brick on left elevation... have you thought about carry that design on your columns.
Same design, same height?

I have, but the neighbor 3 house over already did. They have a lot of stone and pavers too and I think it looks to busy.

I would rather stone the entry wall vs the columns.
