Question #2, last season my depth gauge starting acting up, so I stayed away from shallow spots, but I want to get it fixed when I do my impeller. So to the question, how does one go about checking if the gauge is trash and I need a new one, and if I do, how difficult is swapping the gauge?

Thanks!

Just check your connections and transponder mount. If the gage is getting power but its dead, just get a new one.

Also, any air bubbles getting under the transponder will cause it to read incorrect. Did you change anything on the boat like the drive x-dimension, new drive, etc? If the transponder is not in the water it can't read.

Whats up Alan? I would think that an ohm meter would help if you knew the ohm specs on the gauge. Might be able to find them on the net.

Hey Tim how are ya? Family is doing fine, and say hi to Shannon and the girls for me and Jennifer!

The gauge just started acting funny. We did not do anything to it. Some times it would read out correctly, other times it would start alarming in 100+ feet of water at Lake Powell! It finally got to the point where it would just continually alarm, so I just unplugged it. Now even when it did work, it did not read well when we were under way. I am just tired of it alarming, and I want it to read right, even if I have to replace the whole damn thing!
