Need to get one this week. Prefer the ones with a remote.
Did you wire it to a switch or does the remote take care of on and off?
Then disconnect when car sits?

Thanks

I use cheap rugged whips . I run them on a switch with constant power so I can leave them on when we are discussing how to solve the world's problems on top of a hill on a night ride .

5150. Great customer service.

Mine are wired to a switch on the dash. Remote still changes colors.

I bought those same ones and they’ve actually surprised me. I had an issue with one and expected the service to reflect the price.

I was totally blown away they got it resolved in less than 24 hours and then followed up with a phone call to be sure I was satisfied.

Blew me away lol

The best one I’ve found so far are the pyramid whips. Seems to be stout and zero issues. I run the 4ft versions.

Won a set of 5151’s In a free raffle at one of the sandkrew party’s in Glamis . They have been great so far and the colors are controlled on a app on the phone. Previous whips had the remote that I always misplaced. The magnetic quick release base is sweet too!

Is everyone running a switch?
Seems so simple to wire up to the battery. The x3 batt is right behind the passenger seat.
Or a inline switch, not going all the way to the dash .
Not going to cheap out, just looking at options. It would be nice to not dig into the dash to mount a can am fitting switch

5150 and its been great. Also a great warranty too.I forgot to remove mine before putting car into trailer and they replaced it for me.Even told them what i had done.I have mine wired to console on my buggy to turn it on(i could have gone straight to the battery). The led colors are controlled by the buttons on bottom of the whip vs a remote that i would probably lose anyways.

If you come straight off the battery they will be powered all the time with out a switch any way . Not sure what I'm missing here ?

Wired to a switch and remote to change colors or movement / strobe etc

Safeglowhips. - life time warranty , excellent customer service, RDP member and all around great people! They will deliver to Havasu!
http://safeglowhips.com/contact-us/

I currently have 2-3 footers and I’ve hit a few trees froading in Havasu, so I’m going to swap out to 2- 20 inchers for off road rallying and use the 3 footers for pavement pounding.

Go with the screw in type.

They also have rock lights and camp locators

Not sure what brand is on my Rhino but it has a remote control and works just fine. I do disconnect the little module from the battery when it’s stored (easy little plug) as it was drawing my battery down between uses (sits for weeks/months at a time and only gets used to launch my stand up, beer runs and trips around the park at the river).

I would put wire quick disconnects so when im storing the car its completely off battery .
Then plug in and use the remote for colors, flash etc. Assuming the remote can also turn it off and on.
That make sense? Maybe. Ha

The owners of Safeglo are pretty much our best friends. (Robert and Heather)

I run Safeglo's (obviously), but a lot of RDP members run them too. You won't find someone that stands behind their product more than these guys. Whips four five six years old get messed up and they charge them 25 or so bucks and rebuild them (meaning they just hand them a new one usually).

They are also the owners of the boatwhipz, which is the whip stern light for boats etc.. Great people and are always in the RDP Booth at the Havasu boat show! Swing by for bloody Mary's and beers.. and product comparisons.

I’ve got a safeglow 4’ and 6’, the 6’ i only use when i go to the sand, 2012 was last time, I’d like to get a 2’ if they build them as I’d be able to leave on my car all the time then and not worry about ripping off putting car away in garage.

You are right that will work . I'm lazy so wired mine to a switch so I don't have to plug and unplug them so there is no draw on the battery when I don't want them on . At minimum put a inline fuse .

Ok rdp experts. I don't know why this is stumping me but it is. I have a whip, led. I also have rocker switch that lights up.
So do I run power from the power block next to the passenger seat for the switch internal light...then do I need a wire from the battery to the same switch to light up the whip?
I don't want my ignition on to run the whip. I do want the rocker switch to light up once I hit the ignition button, like the other rockers.

Now do I run a ground from the rocker to battery for the rocker internal light?
The whip self grounds at the frame mount.

Wire it exactly how it says.
Pin 7 to ground

Pin 2 to fused power from battery

Pin 3 to whip +12 v

Pin8 to your keyed on or accessory wire.

My switches are wired to my
ACC (accessory) wire. The lower switch LEDs light up when the key is in the on or ACC position, however the accessory can be switched on regardless if the key is in or out, because the accessory is wired to constant 12v. You don’t want the LED on constant 12v or the LED would always be on.

I am running a Bluetooth 5150 on the crawler. Way better than my cheap amazon ones I have for the quads.
