I wonder if @RiverDave might be able go get some inside knowledge…..

So here I am sitting in my garage doing my thing. Thinking about hmmm “ I wonder how many boats eliminator, dcb, nordic, hallet, Howard, interceptor, and more built say in 2023/2024/and what their backlog looks like.

At first thought I was thinking 800+ but then I kinda thought harder. Took a puff and thought some more.

however boat prices are much much higher than they were 20 years ago. Do they have the same revenue? Profit margin? Kinda interesting to think about.

Eliminator 40?
Dcb is likely at 12
Nordic 20 ish?
Howard 10?
Cobra 20?
Are we even at 100 brand new boats a year?

Do we think it’s possible to get the real numbers not speculation from the builders and double down on getting we built so many of model x and so many of model y and so on?

Something to consider is no manufacturer (at least most of the ones you listed) is building lots of high volume small boats as they used to.

These big behemoths today (30+ feet) probably take a month or more to truely go from start to finish and I think that's being generous. Most hulls sit in the mold for at least a week just to cure.

I think you're numbers should be no more that 10-12 boats per year, if that. Some of the super boutique builders maybe half those numbers due to all the time spent in being truly custom.

I know when we built boats, our goal was 350 man hours to take a fresh out of the mold hull and have it in the water for final test. This did depend on the amount of motors and the complexity of the build. Once we were done it would go back and get the upholstery finished. We were getting boats out on average every 3 weeks.

I wasn't in those meetings to know that detailed of information. However the cheapest boat we built was around 450k and I only remember building one of those.

I have heard the numbers but I don't know what there overhead is . So it's hard to measure actual profit. Obviously the more they build each month the overhead drops.
