The new pup that is. [emoji57]
A little back story. The owner of the shop I work for has a daughter that purchased this dog from a breeder in Missouri. (Only one of two breeders in US for miniature boxer)
Well, said daughter has 4 small children and apparently couldn't handle the pup with the kids as well, so the owner has been watching over the dog for the past 3-4 weeks. I told them I would take her if they couldn't find a home.
So, yesterday we got her.
Our dog, a 5 year old boxer, always does well with other dogs so I wasn't worried about that, but then seeing them together, they're like brother and sister already in the matter of an hour or two. Perfect! [emoji1360]
She's fully house trained, and crate trained. She slept through the night without making a sound, woke up this morning and was super playful. Perfect little dog.
Well then came time for my wife and I to leave for the day. Gave the neighbor a heads up to keep an eye on her for us.
By noon she had already jumped our perimeter fence, and luckily went next door to the neighbor that was prepped to keep an eye out.
She put her back in our yard, but she was quick to jump out again.
Mind you... this mini-boxer is about 30lbs, 14 inches tall, and our fence is 5'6" tall. The dog is jumping to the top, grabbing the fence with front paws, and clawing her way over.
The neighbor decides she would take her to her house to watch her a little closer. But wasn't long before she ended up jumping her fence twice.
So I ducked out of work early to go get her. By this time, she's hanging out inside the neighbors house and has made friends with their Great Dane and chihuahuas. Lol
Now I'm sitting here thinking... crap!! What am I gonna do? Can't build the fence any taller (association rules) can't keep her in her crate all day (gone for 11-12 hours a day) and can't keep her in the backyard (obvious reason)
I have a call into my aunt... hopefully she will want her. Feel bad for the little girl. Only a year old and already 3, going on 4, different homes. I really want to keep her, but I just can't. Never felt like this before. Dang dogs!! [emoji57]
