If you want to lower your insulin and get into ketosis then you need to learn a new diet. For starters get your carbs as low as possible. Less than 50 grams, 20 or less is better. Protien of about .5 grams per pound of body weight. The rest comes from animal fat. Absolutely no vegetable oil. Full fat dairy, butter, avocados avocado oil, olive oil and coconut oil.

Bikman is a stud! Before Bikman was Phinney. They all start out in academia until they get funding and go private then you only hear from them if you can afford them, unfortunately. Phinney started a private clinic, I tried to join but he was only going for the higher mass of casualties (therefore more patients = more money) that is Type 2 Diabetes. I’m Type 1 so I wasn’t accepted.

I converted to low carb after watching this video of Phinney long before keto was a trend.

Phinney on low carb

Well, never heard the waist to height deal...but I can tell you it's accurate for me :(
Just hit that mark this year and shit went sideways. Just finished checking BP before opened this. Looks like I have more reading to do.

Just cut out carbs. I did that 5 years ago and lost 60 lbs in 5 months, then I slowly started adding carbs back into my diet and in 4 years have put 35 of those pounds back on. I’m going to try cutting back on carbs again, but other than meats and most cheeses, most no carb food sucks.

This reminds me of meeting Vince at his Studio city gym in about 1978, His "air force" diet had 40 carbs a day and LOTS of fertile eggs eaten RAW.

Exercise daily, eat reasonably well, and keep moving and you will find that these issue go away without these goofy diets.
Did you even watch the videos

Look at the level of obesity, diabetes, cancer, parkinsons etc The rates keep going up. We now have kids that have fatty liver disease that used to be reserved for alcholics. We cant have that many alcholic 5 years old.

keto is not a goofy diet. Keto is based on science and is described as ancestrial eating verus eating processed man made foods. You dont have to be fat to be unhealthy. There are actually more normal weight diabetics than obese diabetics.

Look at pictures from the1960s and earlier. Compare that to people today. Tell me how well our diets are working. Open your eyes. Learn where some of these health guidelines came from. Not from science. Politics, greedy business. You condem pharma for covid vaccines that harm people. How about diabetes drugs that dont work. How about the medical establishment not teaching people how to reverse diabetes and improve thier life. The list goes on.

Most people just need to get off the couch and eat healthy, especially kids these days that are fed crap and are more into video games than what is outdoors. Its not that hard!

Look up Gary Brecka, 10X Health Systems. The guy is as knowledgeable as anyone out there. Stop with the bull shit fad diets. Eat good, clean, whole foods. Get rid of sugar and move. Make it part of your day. Every day. It's not hard it's just takes discipline and not being lazy.

All these people telling everyone how to eat right, exercise right, or whatever other BS they are selling are full of it. If your car doesn't run right, you don't pull up just any Youtube video and start turning whatever wrench or replace whatever part they tell you to. If your body isn't responding the way you would like it to, perhaps you should address it like you would if your boat or car had a problem. First identify the problem and rule out what it isn't. While blood sugars are something to be concerned about, do all the fad cures solve the problem any better than good old root cause analysis? The same thing applies to obesity. September 29th, I went to the VA Doc and tipped the scales at 250Lbs. That was my over the line point. They assigned a nutritionist to help me figure out how to drop weight. The nutritionist faithfully called and made suggestions that don't work for me. Stating the obvious like: I eat too much junk food, drink too much pop, don't do the exercises they would like me to do, ect...., did nothing to help me loose weight. Figuring out why I eat the wrong stuff at the wrong times was the key to dropping weight. I've dropped 25 lbs in the 3 months and haven't really changed what I eat at all. I do now know that I eat out of stress, it is a coping mechanism. I also know that i personally need something to keep my mind occupied. While doing routine tasks I would graze on food without thinking about it. I now realize that and consciously make an effort not to do that. Counting calories does not work for me. But, calculating how much money I spend on snacks was a game changer. What I don't spend on snacks, I now spend on things I want to do. Positive reinforcement at it's best.

So, instead of buying into someone with a one way saves all program (who is really only doing it for the money), figure out what you are doing wrong, why you do it even though you know you shouldn't. Then be honest with yourself and figure out how to do the right thing, who you can trust to report your progress to or lack there of, and then adjust your plan accordingly. After all do you really need to have someone tell you what you already know.

I was just at the store checking out the avacado and coconut oil options you mentioned. (I already use EVOO pretty regularly.)

I’m going to pick up some avacado oil and maybe an avacado/olive oil blend that looks good as well. I didn’t get it at the store as I’m going to see if Sam’s or Costco has them first.

But what the heck on the coconut oil? It looks like lard in a jar and had 60% saturated fats, versus 10% for the avacado oil. Are you sure that’s something recommended?

You have been lied to about fats. Saturated fats like lard and tallow are healthy but are different from avacado and olive oil which are high in omega 3.Coconut oil has additional benefits in that it contains mct oil which is unique in that it is able to be directly absorbed and helps the body get into ketosis.

on the other hand seed oils are highly processed and are a concentrated source of omega 6. seed/vegetable oils started being produced in the late 1800s. They are a foreign substance to your body. Now they are in all your processed food. When used to fry food they break down into trans fats.

If cholesterol is harmful then why does you body make cholesterol. All you cells contain cholesterol. Using statins to fight cholesterol is harmful. You brain needs cholesterol. Blocking cholesterol can lead to dementia

They are good fats...just like avocados. Red meat fats are the same. Processed foods are the devil. If you're cooking with heat use avocados oil. Olive oil when it gets hot turns into a carcinogen. Coconut oil has been shown to help with dementia/alzheimers. It's is incredibly good for you. You have to erase what the FDA has told you is healthy or not.

Some oils that are considered cancer-free when heated include:

  • Extra-virgin, expeller- or cold-pressed, unrefined, organic olive oil
  • Organic ghee
  • Organic, extra-virgin, unrefined coconut oil
  • Organic, expeller- or cold-pressed avocado oil
  • Refined safflower oil

When heated, any cooking oil breaks down and may produce potentially carcinogenic toxins at its smoke point. However, olive oil's high antioxidant content means that even when heated past its smoke point, it produces low levels of harmful compounds.

So is safflower oil still “good”? My mother was hot on safflower oil when I was a kid, but I didn’t continue buying/using it when I got older.

When applying heat to oil...olive is the 1st to breakdown under heat. Avacado oil should be used every time over olive oil.

Have you checked out Nattokinase for cardiovascular health? It sure seems like the statins are finally getting exposed. Ozempic will be another one with long term backlash IMO

Have you seen nitric oxcide

Toothpaste, mouthwash and some other things disrupt the no cycle. That may make natto better
Yes “Tom’s” is the toothpaste we’ve been using mostly along with some sensodyne mixed in here and there 😆
Modified carnivore with healthy fats and some greens sounds like a radical diet but it really is just eliminating a bunch of worthless expensive crap food/ concentrated juice , etc and falling off it for a meal or a day or a piece of bread out at dinner once in a while isn’t going to kill anyone.
