I know how uncool they are but when your older climbing into the boat from the cavitation plate is difficult. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks S21RC

It's a Schiada, so have special Titanium Pillow Blocks made long to support the swim step and a specially molded and gel coated swim step to match the boat. ;)

I tried to find the picture of the wood deck 24 that Schiada built a few years ago but no luck. Call Stan at Schiada I'm sure he has pics. Pllow blocks that supported the Teak Swim Step! Beautiful set-up.

Just a picture I found, but this shows a little of what XHoser is talking about. Obviously this is a billet aluminum swim step but you could do the same with teak.

Dave, who owns this boat made these. Extended pillow blocks for a swim platform.

Neither of those setups above are easy on the wallet. One like this is a much cheaper alternative that is through bolted to the transom. This boat is a 22’

Here’s another idea... single center step. This one also bolts through transom. This is on a 22 that sold a while back.

Had these added over the winter and strips of grip tape on the tabs. Less spendy than some of the above options.

if the 21 is a vdrive... depending on where the waterline end ups compared to the cavitation hardware.... these brackets will probably interfere with the bar and pillow block location. If it’s an out drive they will work no problem.

Thanks for the suggestions and pictures.

I’m thinking a teak full length like the one on the beautiful blue 22. Easy to install and nice looking.

Any other ideas to help an old V-driver will be appreciated.

I put a big teak platform on my Hallett vdrive cruiser. I mounted it to the control rod with keyed pillow blocks and hinges so that it goes up and down with the electric plates and can also fold straight up to fit in the garage. It has 4 supports. that are extended turnbuckles with plate pads, that use quick release pins. It’s pretty large, but it’s super functional for skiing, kids, hanging out and getting in and out of the boat. This setup probably wouldn’t pass the Schiada coolness test, remember it’s a Hallett and an open bow.

I have a teak swimstep wrapped up in storage. If you’re not in a hurry I can measure it the next time I’m out in AZ. I can’t remember if it’s off my Vaughn or Schiada. I will not be using it for either. Message me if interested.
