First I've heard of anyone actually banning them or trying. Not a lot of them where I live but apparently, it's a problem in some places.
Can't really see how they could enforce it; how can you tell how much ballast water a boat is carrying.

Can almost understand them being able to enforce speed or noise ordinances but this seems like a real gray area.

This ban can actually be forced. Wake enhancing units are banned on the lake where I live, Canyon Lake, CA. The wave tractors are quite destructive. One can only hope this happens in Parker, AZ.

Isn’t 9/10 boats in canyon lake wake boats?

I usually have my ballast tanks full... make the boat ride like a damn caddy!

You wouldn't be able to tell though!

Those that may not think it will be easy look back to about 2010 when they banned two stroke jet skis from Powell mead and Mohave. Said too polluting but hey if you have an outboard two smoker it’s ok and still alllowed.

So not hard to do if they choose too. Eventually more complaints stuff will get done

As for the two stroke ban I hear some still ride their old school 550s around at Powell. 😱🤔 guess it identifies as a four stroke

If they ban the wake boats in Parker then there should be a discussion about anything over 24 on the river as well. But where does it end? Maybe just limit it to certain sections of the river? But that could create other issues. The reality is the people with those boats help the businesses in Parker.

That’s the thing where will it stop once started. I think sections of the river would be a nice trade off

And lets have a 35mph speed limit while we are at it. Its for the children and the environment....
You know kinda like 10 round magazines and sensible gun control laws. We all agree that these are good ideas...right?

Im no fan of the wave tractors and find them to be a nuisance. HOWEVER , there is a group of people that would consider fast boats the same nuisance. I do beleive this is a slippery slope and we need to be very careful what you lobby for here. The enviro nazis would love to open the door on this and keep on steamrolling right over everyone's playground.

If there was only a way to be a Nuisance to a wakeboard boat going 9mph 🤔

They don't need to ban them, they need to hold the driver accountable for the damage they cause to private property, including the swamping of other boats. They should also have a 200.00 fee added to the registration in their state for shore erosion repair.

I'm no fan either. But in addition to the wake boats in Parker there are:

- 32ft perfromance boats hauling ass through traffic
- Idiots with kids on tubes weaving everywhere on a busy Saturday afternoon
- newbies not looking where they are going
- drunks clearly not looking or really caring where they are going
- people floating on floats in the middle of the river
-etc, etc

Its not only the wake boats that are a nuisance. I'm surprised a lot more people aren't killed or injured there........

The river is heaven off season or early mornings, other than that I have no interest. And oh, yeah, get off my lawn, haha.

Everything you listed here has been going on in Parker since the early 90s. Your right...its a wonder more people didn't die... Hell my uncle would run his 382 Formula in Parker through the late 90s early 2000's. Talk about a dick move...lol
The wake boat ban is not aimed at Parker, if they are gonna do it they need to do it to all Federal Waterways. Kinda like the red sticker is today for dirt bikes.... You buy a wake boat and you can run it on a closed course or private lakes only.

This is my reasoning with be careful what you ask for and I absolutely agree with other comments about just enforcing wake laws... Seems that word would spread like wildfire.

It’s a good thing that there are no manatees in Parker……… or you would all be screwed. lol
That's no shit..... We were at the Miami Boat show and a Manatee showed up at the docks... HOLY hell... The group of ladies with the bull horn and whistles that went off by the protection group was deafening...

The Pend o reille river is clogged up with them on weekends, I’m on the fence about a ban but I hate them. If you tie up a nice performance boat at your dock they will come plowing up close to get a look. Meanwhile your boat is getting slammed into the dock. They do this all day. Clueless bastards and most of them play shit for music.

Can you take a picture of the boat throwing a tsunami as it hits your dock? That should be all the proof you need. Take them to court for the repairs.

Everyone is already responsible for damage and/or injury caused by their wake. The obvious problem is proving who’s wake was it and making them accountable. Although, with today’s proliferation of video cameras it is likely to happen. But when and where ? ? Surprised the enviros aren’t screaming about bank erosion. ? Maybe they are? That, could be a very slippery slope. Although, go fast boats do not throw large wakes. And that would be easy to prove in court, if necessary.

I hate to be that guy, but based on my Florida experiences, the future is bleak for you Parker people.

Here‘s my prediction……..

35mph maximum speed, - no wake zone to Parker Dam (it’s 25/30 where I live. 2 season)

Boat size limit or wake based limit, - such as no wake larger than 15” inches. (here in Florida, they can’t limit boat size, so they limit boat wake size)

Sound decibel limits. This applying to loud exhaust and stereos. (This went tri county wide last year)

All the above has permeated Florida. Coming to a state near you!

Someone posted an article a couple years ago about someone's dock getting damaged and surveillance cameras got a look at the boat responsible but they weren't held accountable. I would rather they be held accountable but if they aren't going to be held accountable then maybe they should be banned 🤷

Arrowhead is doing this. But it’s a private lake so they can do whatever.

I will say that enforcement is easy. You lock out/ tag out the ballast system and wake enhancement devices and document that as part of any pre launch requirement.

Then if you see someone making a larger wake than they should be, Lake Patrol pulls them over for an inspection.

If they have bypassed the lock outs, ban the boat from the lake for the remainder of the season and put them on probation for the following year. Do it again next year and you don’t get a boat on the lake the following year.

However for public waterways that becomes much more difficult. You can still require the lock out/tag out and you can still stop and inspect, but I don’t know how you’d keep them from just going down or up river to a totally different group of LEO.

Yes, they are. Most use them for booze cruising or just floating around. When I launch my Nordic 22' Evolution or when I had my Hallett Vector, they look at me like I’m weird.

And at the same time I'm a bit guilty. I've owned two Mastercrafts and a MB Sports wave tractor. But I never would launch them when I go to the Parker house.

It's a tough argument unfortunately, they can argue that the docks were already rotted, already damaged, or unsuitable for the waterway. Hard to prove that that one wake was the primary cause of the damage....... 😒

If the video shows an intact dock before the the boat goes by and it's clearly damaged after then they should pay. I've fixed vehicles had damage from a previous accident but the insurance company still owned the damaged new and old due to their insured.

What is more of an issue, the huge wake or the ( modern ) gangster rap that you can still hear when they are a mile away ?

This would be a really slippery slope if it ever would start to get enforced. That would open a continuous revolving door for all kinds of other boats being banned. I used to think the same way! But, as controlling as the government is and wants to be, it would not turn out good in the long run! The Kens and Karens that have moved onto the river over the last couple of decades, you do not want to give these people an inch of space to complain more than what they already do! I mean If you have a river house and have a dock and it is getting rocked by these boat wakes, again, it's not like it has just happened. More than likely was happening before they ever bought the home, SO DON'T COMPLAIN! Is it a nuisance, obviously!

No, speed and noise would follow. Enforce pursuing operators that cause damage and cost/insurance will sort it out.

You can ban as much as you want , whatever you want , the problem is the degrading human condition . People will find a multitude of ways to disregard , disrespect , and flat out be a nuisance to other people . Sounds harsh , but just going to the store these days is hard to do without an incident happening.

Agreed, LOL, but if video proves damage after the wake then the boat owner need to prove previous damage and they won't be able to. Auto insurance companies know the bumper was damaged before but it's damaged worse now so they own it, no questions asked, I don't really see the difference, and there shouldn't be a difference.

Family cabin is in northern WI and has an HOA that controls the public launch ramp.
HOA voted lake front home owners are allowed to operate wake boats 500 feet from shore.
Since you need an access code to launch at public ramp, they banded non home owners from using wake boats.

I wanted them all banded. Have replaced the dock 5 times in 20 years of partial ownership. I owned 25% until I sold my stare last year.

For all you guys saying ban them, or even entertaining. How about you just stop going to the river.

Of you are on the side of ban anything then YOU are the problem and a river Karen.

In fact Dave should be giving you a vacation for even mentioning it!!!

Go be a Karen somewhere else!!!

It's not the wake that kills docks, it's the owners.

Until you change their mindset to being responsible and respectful, docks will continue to die.
So.....never.
(I'm not a fan of them. I do see the importance of family time though)
