Anyone ever had it? Went to emergency last night cause I was dizzy and felt like I was gonna puke. Also had a shortness of breath. Doctor said it was Vertigo. Never had this before. How long does this last? Going to a specialist today. Just wondering what I'm in for.

or an inner ear infection or major inflammation in the inner ear.....or low blood pressure....or shit, lots of things. It just might be connected to your eye in some manner.

See the specialist first and then lets worry.

I read the real cause is Rhino's. Jeeps cure it. :D:D

Seriously there are many types and causes. For the most part treatable. My Grandmother had many bouts of this. All related to inner ear inflammation.

I've had a touch of it too for the past 2 weeks and noticed I was coming down with a cold of some sort.....so I'm thinking it's related to some type of ear dealio.

I too was like WTF? "Slowdown; you're making my head spin I told my daughter."

lol

Hello all;

My wife came down with it earlier this year. Turns out that she was coming down with shingles.... It happened to attack the side of her head. Short term nerve damage lasted several months. The attack included the side of her face, head, inner and outer ear.

Lots of fun but a full recovery.

hope you feel better dave ... i googled vertigo and read up on it.

did you happen to get any water from your pool in your ear that you were not able to get out? that might contribute to it.

maybe it also has a direct correlation with your eye situation that you had.

who knows ... but keep us updated:thumbsup

Could have been Benign Positional Vertigo. I've had that in the past a couple of times. Leaves me in bed for about 3 days but it does go away. Has to with the crystals in your inner ear that are responsible for balance.

You had a very mild case. Wait until it hits and you can't tell up from down or left from right. That will make you as sick as a dog...

Shannon has it and hers gets bad. Like cant walk, cant focus, room spinning. etc. Happens to her about once every 4 months. Most ofter it happens to her when she goes to get up for work.

Somehwat related...my 17 year old niece has had terrible seizures since about age 4. CHOC and about every doctor known to man have been trying to figure it out; and at one point they proposed brain surgery.

Now they are convinced......severe nasal tract infection due to a deviated septum. Yes, surgery is in order, but not on her brain.

The nasal tract, inner ear stuff is trippy. Big earthquakes give me motion sickness and now I'm thinking it has always been some type of inner ear problem.

Could be an acupuncture pin left in your ear;)

I've gotten really mild cases after driving long distances w/ the windows down. The wind tweaks my left ear, and i end up dizzy the next day:swear

Dude wasn't your eye just all fucked up?

You better get that shit taken care of. I may need someone to buy my Prowler soon ;) :D

Just got back from the doctor. Nothing related to the eye. That was a stye. Says I do have Vertigo. Seems mild and thinks it has to do with being in the heat at the river, swimming, and maybe a bit of dehydration. Said once I got hit with the loud noises at work last night it set it off. He told me to take a week off work. After negotiation explaining I'm broke he agreed I could go back in a couple days if I feel like it.

I get it most often when I stand up too fast...................My dad in his mid 80's gets it often when he's getting to his feet, but then again he's been on a cocktail of daily meds since his open heart surgery.

Hope ya feel better Dave :)............you're acting all old and decrepit, even before you have children.

I have bad eye allergies and rub them a lot and as a result, end up with a lot of styes.

Sure, there's prescrip meds and such....but after several years I found a hot water compress works wonders. No savs, eyecreams or poking...just hot water, 3 times per day.

Use a washcloth, super hot water and place on the reddest area at least 3 times in a day. Leave it on there for a minute or two, and push the cloth out towards the edges of your eyelids. Works like a charm every time, quick too, usually overnight or even the same day.

Strange yours doesn't have any pain though cuz those suckers kill.

So Tuesday night at Emergency the doctor prescribed me some motion sickness pills. I guess they are like Dramamine. Well yesterday I took them and felt pretty good. Thought I was getting better already. Well this morning I thought I would be a tough guy and not use them. Thought I was getting better. Boy was I wrong. After walking into the wall a few times I decided to take one. Half hour later I was walking straight again. This thing sucks.

Take a Viagra instead... at least you wont hit your nose when you run into the wall:skull

Take the meds for a week or 2 and let your body heal itself;)

Yup, I have the Vert. My first episodes were only for a minute, twice. Thought it was just cause I stood up too fast. Major episode like yours DJ was at work. Sitting down started feeling dizzy, leaned back, kept getting worse, wound up lying on the floor, could not stand up. IT guy from work dialed 911, carted me off to ER, they stood me up once for a few seconds and I hurled. Just like being drunk, without the booze.
Mine is the crystals thing, the little hairs get messed up and your balance goes to heck and begone. They gave me the same stuff, Mechlazine ( like dramamine). Works pretty well, I take one everyday because I have residual Vertigo pretty much everyday, the Mech makes it manageable.
Some poeple say it goes away, others like me last forever. Not a fun thing, just keep your fingers crossed you do not have a major attack like your first one when in the middle of something like driving or such.
Good luck and welcome to the club.

My ex-BIL had the vertigo real bad for several months. He wound up going to the Shea Clinic and they did a series of surgeries on his inner ear and he's been fine for over a year now. Don't know what was causing his exactly, but he was sure focked up for a while.

Well fuck me. Had another episode of this last night. I was eating dinner and all of a sudden the room started spinning. Hobbled over to the couch and layed down with a pillow over my face. Started taking the pills the doc gave me again just in case. Crazy feeling.

Yes there is nausea with it. It lasted a couple hours last night. Last time this hit me it did it the same way. A couple hours at first then real short spells of it over a few days and it was completely gone in a week. I have a prescription for it but you can also just take Dramamine for it.

I had no idea there were so many people with this problem. I had my first attack over a year ago, maybe 18 months. I think it started about the same time I developed allergies. Mine isn't that bad, usually just lasts for 20-30 seconds when I get out of bed or turn my head the wrong way (look up). This will go on for 4-5 days, gradually getting better. Scared the hell out of me the first time it happened. Crazy thing is, when you get an attack, close your eyelids and feel your eyes. They are moving like you are in REM mode. My most recent attack was the worst. Started the Monday before King of the Hammers. Thursday morning I was throwing up in the motorhome :( It lasted until the following Thurs or Friday, so for about a week and a half. I actually had to wear the patch on a couple of days, which I hate because it creates a metal taste in my mouth and drys it out also. But it was the only way I could get into work. I was taking Thur and Fri off already, so I couldn't call in sick. Had the Admins walk though for observations that day also. Perfect

Good luck, Dave. Expect to suffer from this forever, I think. For me, after studying it for a year and trying to figure out what causes it, I think it comes on about a week after a sinus infection. I'll know more next time it happens. Should be in about 3-4 months.

It hurts like hell for me to move, but at least I know which direction I am going...
Good Luck to all of you who have it and hope they find a cure.

First time I got it was after a river trip. It was hot as hell and we were swimming all weekend long. Then I came home and went to work and I think the loud noises knocked something loose in my inner ear.

This time i think it may have been my chiropractors doing. My shoulder and next were jacked up for a week and he worked on that and cracked my neck. I think that jolt knocked something loose in my ear again. I have medication for it that works very well. Good news is my shoulder and next feel great.
