A question for the paint removal specialists: Sandblasting or not?

not an expert, but I think sandblasting on fiberglass would be way to aggressive, there are a lot of gentler medias, and Iam sure some experts will weigh in for you, good luck looks like a great project.

Chemical striping=

You probably have better stuff than we do they took out the bad for us chemicals and it doesn't work as well as it did.

Follow instructions and brush in one direction only.

Some say no methelyene chloride idk

I stripped an old Stevens with it then cleaned/washed and primed/painted with no issues over ten years.

I have tried 3 different paint strippers, none of them work, no wonder if there are no active ingredients in them, even painted on, covered with foil and left to work for 24 hours

I have no idea if this will work, but take a look at Dry Ice Blasting. It seems to be effective in the removal of graffiti.

Try to stay clear of the methylene chloride. It damn near got me one time even with a dual cartridge respirator and a box fan to move air.

heavy grit good sand paper on an 8" orbital will strip your paint. keep the rpm's down or you just burn. I cant find pics of the top peck stripped but took it all off reglassed where needed, capped the boat, resin coated and off we went. Fiberglass is very porous chemicals scare me as they may never leave. I saw a cool wood decker come in the shop and they used a chemical stripper and the entire deck bleached out out as they never got the chemicals off and when they reglassed it just had this crazy impact and it bleached all the wood.
