What is the recommended tire for the UTV’s?
Use will be Havi trails, fire roads in Williams/Utah ect.
With quite a bit of use on the roads/highways of Havi.
So I would like something that can handle the street and be strong enough for the rocky trails in Havi.
Do they make such a thing?

Thanks for any info.

Toyos are a pretty good tire for dirt and street. I'm kind of over the BFG utv tires, had a few issues with them. Mainly sidewall punctures and sure don't seem to wear real well. I ran the stock Polaris Coyotes for a long time and actually that's what I have back on my RZR now. Problem with them they wear fast with street driving.
Watch out, this will turn into a Ford vs Chevy real quick.

For typical southwest riding I like System 3 DX440 or Tensor Regulator 2. Both have a similar Desert style tread.

Tensor DSR 33's have been great on our X3 in Havasu. They are light compared to other tires of the same size. The only downside is not great in deep sand (will still get the job done) and they wear relatively fast. I like them overall though.

I’ve run pro armor crawlers great in the dirt and rock. Horrible for street
Bfg great traction everywhere but I have had my fair share of sidewall issues
New tire will be regulator 2 tbd

Tensor Regular 2's . Been a great tire . Replaced them at 3k and there was about 1/3 of the tread left . Probably could have gone another season .

The BFG is about the same price as the Tensor 2’s.
Does the BFG hold up well on the street?

If your car has a spool like everything else, you’ll want to rotate the tires particularly if you do a lot of street driving.

And no, they are a soft tire and aren’t going to last forever on the street.

Yes I did upgrade my 06 Rhino ;)

So of the 3 recommended tires, which has the hardest rubber compound to last a bit longer with road use?
System 3
BFG
Tensor
Thanks for all of the info

I don't drive mine on the street, other then around the block after a wash, and to load it in the trailer....but KM3's seem awfully soft for extended street use..

All 3 of those are pretty soft.

What do you actually want here? Good tire life on the street or good dirt performance?

Any set of good dirt tires you are only going to get 2000-3000 miles out of them, and that is in dirt with some street use.

Tensors are great if you want to buy tires every 500 miles. They are extremely soft and won’t last at all on the street.

The old BFG KM2’s will last forever. I think they make a KM3 now??

I’d stick to BFG or the new Toyo’s and or Nitto’s. The days of buying cheap garbage Big Horns are long gone with these new cars running real tire sizes.

The BFG KR2 UTV tire is the soft compound race tire.

Yes, you would want the current KM3 UTV tire.

I would price out the different 3 tires and see what price point is and then make a decision

Tensor has their new harder compound tire - local UTV shop. They might have a hood intro price

the BFG can be bought at discount tire ( @Bpracing1127 ) can confirm this

systems 3 need to check at the local UTV shop
If you decide to go system 3 tire I’d go with the 33 - lighter and 1/2 inch more ground clearance

In 33” the Reg 2s list for 275ish, I was quoted 1000/set mounted. The 32s were available for 850/set at the off-road expo. The DS were more expensive and wear pretty quickly.

System 3 DX440 were 180ish each in 33 when I bought mine last month. I think the RT320 is similar in price. The 320 will probably last longer than the DX- after about 100 miles on my 440s I’m guessing I’ll get 12-1500 out of these, for comparison, my stock rampage fury’s were toast at 1000 miles. I ordered my System 3s from KJ Motorsports online, as nobody locally could touch their prices.

If you want a set you can put a bunch of miles on, maybe look at Tusk Terrabites, or possibly some Kanati Mongrels.

I have the Kanati Mongrels 8ply, and have been a great tire but I pinched a sidewall last weekend and I can only find in 10ply now.

700 miles on our Tensors. I probably have one more season in them. Definitely wear fast with street use.

I gotta give another hand up and vote for the BFG KM3 ATV tire. In havasu its been a great tire on the streets as well as on the trails and washes.

Holy shit tho, we have been in Southern Utah riding every day for the last week, and this BFG grips so damn good and it pulled its weight and mine (literally) on everything I threw at it! Pavement, dirt, sand, steep rocky trails, rock crawling, river beds, muddy river crossings and they love the red dirt!

I have run other tires and was happy with the Tensor, until this tire came along!

CONGRATS on the new ride! I saw a few of them this past week, they are nice! I said it before when these things were showing up and I still think its gonna be a homerun for lots of peeps. HCR is doing a long travel kit for it, just sayin... 👍 I would have one too if I wasn't in so deep on the RangerCrew.

I’m running 35” BFG KR2’s on our new Pro R. Spendy but a good tire.

1000 miles on my stock ITP coyotes with no issues but only drive on the street to load. No complaints seem to do well in all types of terrain even hit the dunes at superstition and did ok.

I run the Patagonia SXT in a 34" on a 15" wheel.

I have this theory on price vs performance, and while I have always had great luck with BFG tires, the price is pretty high for a consumable item, and I feel like I'm paying a premium price for a premium marketing campaign. If I was racing Baja and wanted to take advantage of pit support, I could justify the price, but since I'm a weekend warrior, the Patagonia suits me fine. I'm not kind to these tires, and so far, they have performed well. Starting the second season.

I know a few of the guys who developed the Patagonia, and they are good people invested in the offroad culture. Disclaimer: I do receive favorable pricing. on this brand due to my relationship. As a result, I run Milestar on my RV, truck, and UTV. I don't participate in an affiliate program and receive no benefit from increasing sales.

I was looking at that exact tire. I like the 34” offering, and you can’t beat the price. Those and the System 3 tires offer a lot of value compared to the more “name brand” offerings.

Not to threadjack, but how do you like their truck tires? I need a new set for my Ram, and they are quite a bit cheaper than the Toyos I’m planning on getting.

I'm running the Patagonia XT on our Colorado. I just put my second set on that I paid for at a dealer without a discount. We had the first set for 4 years, and we put a ton of miles on them, traveling full-time for three of those years both on and off-road. When they got down to the wear bars, they got really loud, perhaps by design. I was happy enough with them that I did not reach out to my friends for a discount, we just bought them at a reasonable price.

Take a look at the UTV tire weights. The 34" tire was surprising when I looked at other tires in so far as being lighter than I expected. I've still not found the best tire pressure for those, BTW.
