Hi everybody, new to this forum so I hope I found the right one. I have a 2008 Four winns 260 horizon with a 496 merc. I want to upgrade the stock exhuast manifolds with something better, ie looks and sounds better and increases performance but I don't want to break the bank on this. The exuast is currently set up with regular exuast through the sterndrive and corsa side exhaust. Any ideas or thoughts would be great! Thank you!

Whatever you buy ain’t going to be cheap. And not much gain on a stock set up. It’s a tough choice for a stock engine.

You need to define "Break the Bank" there are some big Ballers on this page... I am not one :) I went with Dana "Marie Industries West " and they are very nice but not cheap in my world. All stainless, tail pipes are two piece so you have water running thru them almost the entire length. I did a few side jobs and stashed the cash, was really happy. Truth be told I loved the old NICSON logs as it was old school and matched my Flat bottom but I could not keep water out of the engine in the Day Cruiser. Don't expect these to turn your boat into a rocket ship they will help get the max performance out of the engine not build power.

Thank you all for your guidance on this, definitely not a big baller but wanted to do some minor weekend sized jobs to improve performance, under say $500 (or 500 more than stock exhaust manifolds) to make the engine run as best it can. Based on what I've been reading, in this case. would be to vent or blow more are into and out of the engine compartment to cool the incoming air into the engine, Seems like not much incoming air for the way boats are set up.

Maybe a tune, forgot the difference between a 496 and 496 HO. Could also do some prop testing and spend the money there. $500 isn’t much in the boat world.

Keep your eyes on the used section some nice stuff goes thru there but be very detailed as you don’t want to spend cash for trash or something that will not fit your boat. For a new set of stainless headers with tail pipes made to match your boat take that $500 x 8. You can go up and down on that estimate but good exhaust has gotten very expensive.
