Union job story
Was at a 3 day conference in Detroit and decided to go out the second night.
Got a cab and told him to take me someplace for the action in town, he said your are going to Windsor, Ca.
Went in side the joint and man it had some of the beautiful gals I ever seen!
The Madam came over shortly and asked did I like what I was seeing?
I said yes and the tall redhead was my pick.
She said you don't get to pick, this is a union establishment and the go by a referral list, then pointed to a older heavy gal at the other end of the bar.
I went back to Detroit.
Kinda telling isnt it? Kyle Gas was the one reaching into a woman's shirt in that scene then he turned out to be a flaming liberal piece of shit this past year? Weird.
I shot the pilot for that show. I was convinced it would never get picked up. It did and It ended up being a very big, successful show. Shows you what I know about the TV business. lol
On another note, the amount of Harassment and Sexual harassment training we have to do working in the studios is pretty extensive. Not only do we have to attend classes our Union, but by each and every studio has their own set of separate classes. Then you go to work and the scripts are all about sex and sexual escapades. So bizarre to work on "That 90's Show" where the majority of the cast is under 18 and scrips are so raunchy. It's really unbelievable.. And I'm uncomfortable being around it if I'm being honest. But that's Hollywood.
My wife's brother, and two sisters went into local 12 as soils techs, the brother was maybe in the paving side for 3-4 years.. out of all three only one sister is left in it due to the others not getting enough work. The one that is left worked 12 hours last week. Anyone want to be a sugar daddy for the sister that's left LMAO she literally said she wants to do that in order to move out.
For the two that ditched the union- The brother went into lineman school and moved to colorado to get his foot in the door and eventually back into ibew, and the sister went to work for a non union outfit GC.
On the other hand i have an operator friend who just bought a new 5th wheel and my wife's dad keeps on falling up in local 12 and is ready to retire when he wants lol.
Carpenters union is strong. Been a member 20 years next March. Health care isn't as great as it was, but I've stayed busy all but 1 year of my carrerr so far. Looking to retire at 52 years old and do something else while collecting my pension (which is over funded and the union is looking to bump up the pension payments)
