My Wan Hung Lo Reese chrome tow bar bent yesterday. I think this happened when I was loading my car. The truck seems fine. I didn’t load the car at 20 mph or anything, did what I always do.

Note, that even the pinhole elongated.

Replaced it in a pinch with a new black Reese towbar.

So u think the paints stronger then the chrome, why would you buy the same one?

It was 7:30 AM and I had to get on the road, so bought what was available.

I tow my boat with the same black version. No issues to date, but I doubt it is any better.

Receiver hitch, hitch, ball, tow ball, tow bar..........Ive heard lots of names.
Tow bar to me is something diff though.

Ive got a slew of reese fixed height pieces - good stuff.

Any inmate towing serious miles using a half ton should take a look at an anderson aluminum dual ball rapid hitch.

Made in America & good stuff.

It’s called a drawbar, and aluminum has no place near a hitch.

Chrome also has no place near strength critical parts.

The bent one does not seem to be chrome plated. It is stainless.

Chrome - yeah

I used to share the aluminum sentiment till I got this one.
Its been a vault- but I dont exceed its stated capacity either.

Andersen puts up pretty big numbers for strength - way more than I can put on the hitch

Rusty dirty hitches suck to deal with frequently.

That is damn hard to bend that hitch
Even with cheap low grade steel
The sq tubing I can see bending but that thick ass 5/8 thick bar .hmm

Truth is the F-150 probably stretched it which fatigued the integrity of the tow bar.

This was actually the first time that tow bar has been on the F150.

The hitch itself on the truck seems fine. The 6000 rated tow bar was obviously the weak link.

The car lurched more than normal once because my foot slipped on the clutch, but it’s not like I plowed into the trailer. Learned my lesson..be more gentle.

To be fair, the 5/8 bar was already bent. I just bent it more.

Just bought this one for my truck. I love it so far! Not a single issue and is beefier than I'd imagine. And rated at 14k it is WAY higher than I could ever use.

Reese are tough in my experience.

Here’s what happened to this guys front end when he hit my Cummins with the Reese hitch in it from behind at about 20 mph or so.
Zero damage to my stuff. Hitch wasn’t even tweaked one bit. You can see it in the first pic.

Two things going on here. Stop towing with a Monte Carlo and get a real truck. If you have to flip a receiver to get it to the right height then you need we need you to turn in your man card.

Second, now I know why you want tabs. Clearly very over loaded with fat bitches

Shoulda ponied for the Reese/Curt/Fulton/DrawTite first round, but you already knew that. :)

You are lucky that wasn't a harder lesson to learn.
