I honestly believe ole Elon is mocking us on this one . He’s a smart guy , he’s got to know about this stuff , but I think he’s taking grant money from the Feds , cranking out stupid ugly crap electric vehicles and is laughing all the way to the bank while the narrative is electric right now . Time will tell

Was behind one today w/ my Pops.
1st time he'd seen one & he couldn't get over how ugly it was ! His reaction was priceless. 😆
I said, "and you know, he really thinks he's got something there" . . . . he chuckled & said 'oh yeah, I'm sure'. 🤣

I think it was a billionaire bet. "I bet you no matter what it looks like, people will line up for it."

The styling is far from my taste, but I'd love to take a 64 UniBody, gut it like a fish, and drop it on the chassis!

I have never heard the term unibody, you’re talking Ford, right?

That would look pretty sweet and I’m sure be awesome to drive.

I was in the south end of downtown Seattle a couple of weeks ago and there was about 20 of those things lined up with a gaggle of other boring Teslas. Man they are ugly, what the hell was Elon envisioning and how did this styling make it to market? I've seen several on the road and they are just homely, wonder what Harley Earl would say about these things if he was still alive?

lol - I am in Catalina and will post pics when I get home. I just added a moly panel to the bed wall with hooks for Gigi’s purse and shopping bags. Also a bottle opener in the bed rail. She likes the truck so far. It also fits her personality..

I look at my truck and the basic building blocks are not all that different from pickups from the past.

But I look at the Cybertruck and the innovation is off the charts…it doesn’t even look like a pickup.

It’s so disruptive, it’s easy to simply dismiss it because we’re resistant change.

I moved one today. Definitely different but to drive around town like a Prius it’s a cool car. View attachment 1379201 View attachment 1379202

I ain't gonna lie...

This one looks pretty bad azz.

I'm gonna guess Elon's team has some Killer renditions of this thing while it was still on the drawing board.

He's just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.

Saw one of those tesla trucks at the Marina Village annex launch ramp over the weekend with a jet ski/trailer behind it.

I know it sounds crazy but these weird looking things are starting to grow on me. Don't get me wrong I'm not going to buy one as it would need to get a 300 mile range to get me to havasu without stopping. That's a 300 mile range with me and my lead foot.

What’s disruptive off the top of your head?

I’m genuinely curious, as an electrician I appreciate the power in the bed. But the bed appears “unusable” in my eyes. Not sure how their cab stacks up to other 1/2 tons cabs. It’s pretty hard to beat the size of an F150 cab. It’s a living room on wheels lol.

I think the EV platform has a future it’s just not there today. But you obviously have to walk before you can run.

I’d say all of the following, in one vehicle:
Styling/design that looks like nothing else (good or bad)
48v architecture
Manufacturing process
Dent-resistant SS body
Steer by wire
Integrated tonnueau that you can stand on

Can you elaborate on the 48v stuff?

Are teslas manufactured more efficiently than other vehicles?

Hey man you can shoot an arrow at it lol

I thought a lot of vehicles were “drive by wire” is that not the case?

Factory tonnueau cover is cool. But you can’t look over your shoulder and back up the truck can you? Meaning by design you’re reliant on the camera system.

Edit. And I don’t mean to be negative about new tech. But there are things “truck” owners want. Being able to look out the back window is typically one of those.

Almost all cars today are throttle body drive by wire. Shit Harley Davidson has been throttle body drive by wire since 08! That's why I have an 07, it's the last year of the throttle cable!

BMW started using electric assist power steering decades ago. It wouldn't support me if they are fully drive by wire steering today.

All of this tech is tried and true.

So I'm not sure why Rob is thinking it's not cool? Maybe he knows something we don't? 🤷‍♂️

I’m saying it IS cool 👍

Cyber truck is the first production vehicle with steer by wire and no mechanical linkage. Infiniti had a “sort of” system that had a mechanical backup. Other carmakers use electric assist that can manipulate the steering rack but still maintain a mechanical linkage.

48V electrics is long overdue. It will significantly reduce wire gauge and weight. And everything will simply work better because you don’t need to run as much current. Electric superchargers and turbos will be much easier to implement.

The entire industry has been sitting on the 48v sidelines for decades…”it’s coming!” but was never implemented. And now everyone will play catch-up.

Musk had the balls to send every supplier a book “how to build a 48v car” 🤣

Tesla is the only EV maker to make money selling them, largely because they’ve driven the costs out of production. Gigacasting is huge but not new…simple/flat bodypanels that are easily stamped and easy to assemble is new.

Been trying to think of what motivates buying one of those Fugly POS’s

1. Being a serious attention whore
2. Affluenza stupidity
3. Hardcore left activists
4. And extreme Leaf Lick’n brain dead environmental dipshits!
😒
I guess them Wave Tractors fit right in there also! ;)

shouldnt these be delivered by a tesla electric big rig instead of a diesel? seems kinda ironic to me.
