Here's a story about how our project Honda BF 150 started. Crazy project, but we are aiming for a 250+ HP lightweight outboard.

Cool project. Let me know when you get it to 350 hp and under 400lbs. We can bolt it up to a Stoker and run it in the enduro. You know, to prove it's durability. :D

The goal is 225 to 250, under 470 Lbs, and affordable, turnkey, super reliable. Where did 350 HP come from, lol?

Do you have a sub 400 Lb 350 HP + engine? That is durable and affordable? Would love to see it.

350 HP would be a nice improvement from what we run now.

The 2.5 Merc 280 we ran last year was almost 340 on the dyno, weighs about 375 lbs, we ran it flat out for four hours straight and it was begging for more.

The problem is, as I'm sure you know, parts for the 2.5 platform are getting harder to get and more expensive so not as affordable as they used to be. Having a viable alternative would be very cool. Hard to beat the power to weight ratio of the 2.5 though.

Totally agree. the 2.5 is a tough act to follow. I have a 98 2.5 EFI and it just keeps going, amazing engine. The idea of tuning these 4 cylinders is they can be cost effective 225+ HP and fairly light engines. Lots of used ones out there, but use new technology.

This Allison, was going to be the test boat for the Honda, but will be used to test a modded Merc 150 four stroke now. Honda won't be ready to test for a while.

The new big V6s and V8s are just too heavy.
