The first episode is reminding me of season 1. Very excited to see what unfolds. Hopefully it isn’t a let down like previous seasons.

Rust from season 1 did say his dad lived in Alaska and his name was Travis… could be too far fetched though..

I think it's funny season two is supposed to take place in Ventura county with one of the characters working for Ventura County Sheriff

I recorded all episodes of TD season 1. Started watching S1 E1 and lasted about 15 minutes before I was bored to falling asleep. Hoping for more, after reading how so many seemed to enjoy this show, we're about half way through S4 E1 and we'll finish it tonight. Starting off the same "SLO" way with lots of yapping.
So my question is --- is there any action in this series, or is it all talk ?
So far we think Fargo is far more entertaining, be they movies or the several series seasons.

Season 1 has a big reason for a lot of talking. There are being interviewed about what happened with the case. I don’t want to give too much away incase it hasn’t happened in episode 1 yet, but there are a lot of twists and turns. There is a lot of action once the background stories are done. Season 2 and 3 just weren’t the same as season 1. I wouldn’t bother watching those.

The show is more of a crime drama vs action thriller. There is some action, but it is more about solving the mystery and a lot of character development.

I thought season 1 was great. Season 2 didn’t really grab me and was hard to follow. I didn’t see season 3 which was supposed to be pretty good.

I rarely get engrossed into the plot or storyline of shows unless it's extremely compelling or a subject matter I find intriguing. It's just eye-candy entertainment and a way to relax and piss away a couple of hours at night, of course there's been notable exceptions.
My now deceased X-Bury A Body Buddy was a trip, he'd be able to recite the frigging lines for a month following a show's viewing, where as I'd be struggling to recall I'd even watched it.
I think given the cast of TD S1, I was expecting more as is normally the case for both actors in other works. Granted, maybe I picked the wrong night and should have hung in there a bit longer, but it wasn't fulfilling my immediate needs of instant gratification of my senses. 😂
Seems S4 might have an interesting plot, we'll stick with it and see how it develops.

True Detective season 1 was one of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson's best performances.

Season 2 was a let down but might give it another shot. Didn't know a new season was out. I will check it out.
Other than just talking ?
If the show is that good as pure entertainment and not a plot I have to become immersed in, then I'm willing to give it another shot, but struggling to stay awake watching those first 15 or 20 minutes didn't impress me enough to continue, I admit, I'm easily bored and I doubt the world's best actors, performing at their best could have saved it. Maybe I was to hasty and simply not in the right mood for that venue ??

Movies that generally illicit grandiose reviews or awards for "Best Performances" for the actors, are the ones I least enjoy watching, with a few exceptions of course.

I am the same way and usually become uninterested in slow moving shows/movies. For example, I started watching Better Call Saul and didn't make it through the first episode. Gave it another shot and now it is easily on of my top 5 favorite shows of all time.

Hey, if it isn't your style then it isn't your style, nothing wrong with that. It does pick up nicely though.

That answers my question, thank you. So it's a show that's best enjoyed if you're willing to be immersed into the plot, it's not simply eye candy diversion.
I enjoy an interesting plot, hell, we even got fully into the whole "Game of Thrones" saga, but I prefer it laced with enough action like that was, or like Reacher or Fargo as two other examples to keep me engaged and my eyes wide open.

Great season! I am sad it is over. Never saw the twist at the end coming, but it made a lot of sense. I never got bored at all and thought it was pretty intense.

I thought season 1 was fantastic. We didn't get through episode 2 of season 2. They had a tough act to follow after Harrelson/McConaughey, and they didn't live up to the task. Haven't been interested in it since. Maybe we will try season 4.

So my wife and I sat and binged season 4 Sunday not realizing there are seasons. Sooo…that is 4 hours we will not get back. Stupid ending. We were like WTF? Then she texted my daughter who told her about it and my daughter said you watched season 4 🤦‍♂️ w/ Jodie Foster and they’re 2 more. Yea, we damn fucked up

None of the seasons are connected really. Only season 4 touched on some things from season 1. They are all meant to be separate cases. If anyone watched season 1 and didn’t like it, I’m assuming they wouldn’t like season 4 as well. There’s definitely a strong sense of supernatural elements to it.
