My cousin, Matt. He doesn’t work there
Shirt reminded me, did you seek out any sponsorship from any media or Polaris as two examples ? I'd think more than one company would be interested in being associated with it. Of course, I also realize that can create certain incumbrances.
If that's your home, which I believe could be in San Diego county, as are we, nice looking area 👍

This should be an awesome journey and I'm looking forward to your updates.

We talked about it and went back and forth but decided that not having any reliance or responsibility to anyone else was the more prudent choice for us.

That is our old house, we actually sold it recently and are renting it back through the end of the month as we are building up in Alpine. Just moved into a temp house for the next year. Busy time right now... lol

The chase guys are on the move this morning. :D However, I just got a call from one of them that the new weather stripping I put on all the compartments on my trailer is causing issues with the latching and after 3 stops before Temecula they now have ratchet straps holding them closed. Classy... 🤣

Funny, after the '07 Witchcreek Fire caused our home to be remodeled to ashes, we tried living in a rental for a few months, but lacking any furniture but a bed and tv trays, we decided to live in a 5th wheel in our driveway during our rebuild. After three years of RVing it in our driveway --- we were thrilled at having a real home again.
Best of luck in Alpine and of course, navigating the insurance steeplechase. 🤷‍♂️

That new weatherstripping will hopefully gain some groovy compliance with the assistance of those ratchet straps. 🤣

AWESOME!!! It would take my crew a year to go 2200 miles with all the pee and beer stops!!!! Hahahaha. They are all blown away I stay in the car for 8 hours while racing The Mint 400 without getting out. When I lead on our rides they all start coming over the radio " Ahhhhhh... hey buddy, we gonna stop anytime soon for a beer break?" And thats usually only 10 to 20 miles in, hahahaha. Looks like a badass trip, def be watching this one unfold.

BTW @paradise , I think you helped me map out our parks annual trip from Ehrenberg to Yuma back in 2016. Good thing I had you look at the route, you quickly pointed out I had us dropping into a shooting range by the "Bridge to Nowhere", hahaha. We still do that trip every year.

Haha, we definitely all know guys that go for the drinking more than the riding 😁

That’s right, I forgot about that! That’s still a fun ride down the East side of the river but it’s gotten rough. I’ll have to shoot you our path down the West side sometime 👍

We try to keep moving and stop every 45minutes to 1:15 depends on the terrain and the group !

But short stops are key ! 10 minutes max ! Keep moving along

Wheels down the whole way. 👍 Should be ~95% dirt

Where did you get your sticker made? i want to do that with my rides
My cousin had them made. I’ll try to remember to ask him.

So today was prep and shakedown. A quick 50 mile loop from Bonners Ferry up to ~6k ft to a rad little lake. Chase guys got some dirt time too, which was nice 😁👍

Super cool cop stopped and talked to us for a bit. Let us know they changed the laws and the sxs are basically able to go on any roads now as long as they are plated in the home state. 👍👍

Day 1 🤙

Kootenai Inn was awesome. Very nice, updated rooms, good restaurant and bar and free breakfast at the restaurant. Plan is to leave this morning and head to border and then down to Clark Fork Lodge. Short day so we’ve got a couple loops planned if we decide we want to in the afternoon.

We are in Clark Fork. Very short day today but a nice ‘break in’.

We had a great ride, nice trails but quite a bit of asphalt. Tomorrow will be about double the ride.

After Pen Oreille, ran by lunchbox point.

So first big day was today. We went from Clark Fork to Pierce. Left around 700am, arrived here around 5:15. Fuel stop was just in Wallace.

Leaving Clark Fork was a lot of narrow overgrown trails which made us go a lot slower to try and retain some safety coming around blind turns. Had some rocky sections, but overall really pretty.

Coming into Wallace, we had a guy in a truck run into the last car of our group. Dented up the front corner of his truck but nothing on the car as he just hit the rear tire. Then, when we got into Wallace, we had another car blow out a piston on the front passenger caliper. Luckily it happened driving through town and not coming down the mountain 😬😬. Good news was we had a spare caliper in the parts we brought and swapping it out was a quick 20-30 minutes.

Trails opened up quite a bit after Wallace and DJ took over leading for a while. I was working on catching up and sent it a little hard into a dusty corner. Put her up on two wheels but was able to set it back down, too fast for the conditions 👎 Some of the gravel roads up here were like ice.

Making good time 130 miles in about 4 hrs that’s a solid 30+ miles per hour !

Plus those trails look tight and somewhat twisty !

Going to be a long day to hit the 300 mile mark !

Country side looks Beautiful and Tons of green !

Day 2 down. Overall a really big day. Actually ended up at 355 after a detour due to a closed rd and a mapping issue we figured out. The Polaris software has a new update that tries to optimize routes and gets a little aggressive with switchbacks. It ends up squaring them off which cuts off 1/8 mile or so of distance each time. Woth all the right trails that added up to almost 30 miles.

You can see here an example, the white was the actual trail, blue is what was mapped:
IMG_6160.jpeg

Total for the day, 356 at 10 hrs moving time is pretty good, rolled in at 845.

Lots of slow trails today so pretty happy overall. Doing oil changes now.
