My buddy has a 2000 FORD F350 7.3 4x4 that the transmission just went out. It is a automatic and he tows a trailer and a Bobcat. Who is the goto shop or who is the best to buy a remanufactured one from?

I would call Domestic Diesel in Chino. Rupert or Tom know their shit and if they can't do it, I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.

I just did this in our 2000 excursion. Ended up going with the hot rodded Jasper transmission. Welded case, lockup convertor, bigger shafts and all the other goodies. 3 year 100k warrantee and it's rated for more hp and torque than I can give it. Was not cheap at $5500. You should also upgrade to the 6.0 cooler too. It's about 4 times the size of the stock 7.3 pos.

I have had good luck with Chino Hills Transmisions but its been a long time since I drove a ford and needed their help. BTW they do all the police cars and city vehicles in the area and they were straight shooters with me.

Good Luck

You and my buddy Dave are the only people i know who think Jasper is significantly better than OEM.

My truck dropped 200 rpm at 65mph and runs 30 degrees cooler. I had Ponci do the work and he pushed for Jasper. With what I do with ours and the amount of tuning I have done to the truck it was the obvious choice. i would have smoked another oem trans in no time.

With an independent builder , you are at the mercy of the lead builder at time of build ...is he hungover ? marital issues ? forget an o ring ? I've been turning wrenches for 45 plus years
and I can say I have the least issues with Jasper than independents . That's not say I haven't had issues with Jasper , but they stepped up right away and paid a nice R & R fee and shipped a trans right away .

When my transmission died in my 2001 F350 PSD I bought a factory rebuilt F450 transmission and 6.0 trans cooler. Been going strong for 175k miles so far with zero problems.

I thought John Wood was the go to guy for Ford transmissions, it been a while since I've been over on the powerstroke forums so maybe something has changed.

Leo @ Remac in San Dimas. 909-592-1006

He's built at least half a dozen transmissions for me. Never had a problem with any of em. And he will build it however you want (to fit your budget).

Tell him Joe @ Rett's Automotive sent you.

X2 for Leo, he does all the fast cars at the track but I know the main source of his income is fleet service so this sounds up his alley. He has done excellent and timely work for me and all my friends

Recomend highly I have a John Wood tranny in my 97 it cost me $6,500-$7500, if I remember correctly? Came with an unlimited mile warenty with unlimited torque & HP
I have close to 1,200 ft of torque and have pulled over 23K lbs from Vegas to Cleveland almost non stop at 70mph several times without any hicups
fluid still clean has about 40k miles since rebuild.

Stu's A&E on Cherry ave in Long Beach. The truck will fall apart around the tranny. The last tranny you'll buy if you let them do the service. It's in writing.

Pius Eberle(Bell Turbo), built the motor and turbo for me 5 -6 years ago, gets terrible gas milage, but pulls like a freight train and egt's stay low at full boost for long periods climbing, the trucks geared correctly too
Here's a picture of the upgraded turbo he used

I use Diesel Performance Specialties in Van Nuys for everything on my truck and he recommends a brand new Factory unit which is the way I'll go when the time comes. 240,000 out the the original so far so another one of those should get me to the end.
